Comment My Attitude towards game difficulty is this... (Score 1) 204

I should have the option of turning it down on the days when I want a "bubblegum play" experience where I can play for while and just be entertained. Then on other days, I'd like to be able to turn it up when I want to be "challenged".

Yes, there are times where I don't mind be frustrated a little, (note the emphasis!) but I don't care for situations that go way beyond that. (and I think a lot of other people do as well, judging from the recent wave of 'casual gaming' trends.)

And I absolutely hate it when I'm confronted with a dead end situation, like when I can't complete a game because some game book author made a deal with the programmers to write in special stuff that requires their game book in order to "win the game". (I won't bother mentioning which companies engaged in this behavior because they don't need any more advertising and besides, a lot you probably already know whom I'm referring to...)

So there you have it in a nutshell.

After Blogging on LJ, Blurty, greatestjournal (among dozens of others that sprouted up during that time) when I finally got to Myspace I was already pretty much blogged out. Then when the masses latest fad shifted on to Facebook, I pretty much figured enough was enough and starting leaving my "reading" mobile devices in the charger for longer times and found something more interesting to do than keep up with all the twitterings. And personally, I think somebody named it right, because it really does remind me of an annoying bird...

Then, one day I realized... THEY own the company. If they want to run it into the ground there's not a darn thing I can do to stop it. All I can do (as long as I'm working there) is show up and do the best job I can with what I've got... and communicate what I think the priorities should be from my chair. If they don't listen to me - and it all blows up someday - It's NOT my fault. It all has to do with giving up control.... which can be a very healthy thing spiritually and psychologically.

So, you're basically saying that...

Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird

Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away

Yep, that's exactly what a lot of people are saying. And what it translates to is more people not doing the right things.

I seen these kind of rationalizations before, and not surprisingly they were from the Nazi flunkies who cared more *about their job* than what they were *doing on the job*.

Sound a little familiar? That's why more corporations are acting like sociopaths recently, because more are following this mentality. And we're just beginning to experience some of the consequences as a society. (Can you say loused up economy with C-levels getting bonuses while others get pink slips to pay for those bonuses?)

Oddly you just made a great argument for being pro capital punishment - start executing these criminals then turn around and use that $40K that would have been spent on them to employ American citizens who are currently unemployed.

But, I'm pretty sure that's not what you intended... :)
