I took woodworking in middle school (I'm Generation X). It sucked. They don't let you do anything dangerous, like in the "old days", for the same reason lots of schools don't use pointy compasses in geometry class anymore. Just take the free classes at Home Depot.

And you know they'll never bring back home economics.

The Orange Line in Los Angeles is run like a train, uses a dedicated busway, and has huge daily ridership. But it's the only line of this nature in L.A. Though rail is still being built in L.A. now, dedicated busways will probably be a (partial) solution to the traffic congestion on the westside.

Administrators at government offices and schools may not have the expertise to choose high quality I.T. staff, and/or may not provide an adequate budget to combat ransomware.
  My school district has insurance for this, and last year paid off the ransomers who encrypted the computers at one of our schools. This is about the best we can do, I think, until the insurance companies start charging too much.
