I'd imagine that the people spending more than $100,000 for a Cybertruck or a Tesla Model S Plaid would probably disagree with you about Tesla being a luxury car brand.

Dude... it's 2024. Even the shittiest PC integrated graphics can run Crysis effortlessly. The meme is dead, it's time for a new game.
I'd imagine that Google and Microsoft will mandate that all future Chromebooks, PC's, and laptops will require an AI co-processor and a Copilot/Gemini button on the keyboard in order to get product certification from now on.
With Apple, you never really had a choice to begin with. You can only buy what they offer, unless you want to go the hackintosh route which is getting increasingly harder.with Apple silicon.
Sure, you'll still be able to install an alternative OS on most of these platforms, but the AI hardware is still going to be there. You might not use it, but you still paid for it.
I think that the problem is that we don't have a badass astronaut like Neil Armstrong at the controls making last minute course corrections. If they tried to do this remotely back in the 1960's, they probably would have had equally terrible results.
I guess that they're going to have to go the Battlebots route and add a self-righting mechanism for the time being. That is, until they develop AI smart enough to land the damn thing consistently.
That's not really how it works, though. Advertising through either normal channels or social media geared at kids are designed to get them to nag their parents and grandparents until they get what they want for Christmas or their birthday. Or, if you have annoyingly generous grandparents who spoil them rotten, Graduation and Easter as well.
If you don't see that advertising as effective, you probably haven't been paying enough attention to your credit card statements around the holidays.
I also found it amusing that they included Linux and Cyber Security as "fads". I don't think that those two are going away anytime soon.
3DFX cards were really just used for gaming, though. You can only sell so many PC add-on cards and arcade machines.
NVidia didn't really become a money printing machine until they invented CUDA, which let their GPU's do "real" work like crypto mining and eventually AI acceleration.
Mercedes owners have already shown that they're willing to pay a 30% price premium over a similarly configured Honda or Toyota to get a pretty 3 pointed star logo on the front of their car.
Paying a similar price premium for an EV drive train shouldn't phase them much, as long as it's sold in a way that continues to make them feel smugly superior over the peasants driving "normal" cars.
The results are entertaining, though. I asked for a picture of The Pope, and got back a guy who looks like Eddie Murphy in his 30's dressed like a Catholic Bishop. Go search for examples on X/Twitter, they're awesome!
The premise alone has potential for Hollywood blockbuster!
Probably something Apple proprietary as hell, to insure that third-party support for iMessage will continue to be difficult as possible to reverse engineer. We can't allow those peasants using Android phones to have those beautiful blue chat bubbles, can we?
Selling the change as a "security improvement" is just a bonus for Apple.
I honestly don't care how well an EV tows right now, because I'm not a truck guy and I don't have a boat or camper to tow.
What I don't like is how an electric SUV costs around 25% more than a comparable ICE model with similar features, and that's after the tax rebate is factored in.
I had a kids savings account with ING that got converted to Capital One. While their other savings accounts hiked up their savings rates with the Fed, the kids savings account rate stayed at around 1% until I finally closed it about a year ago.
Capital One... ripping off an 8 year old. That's certainly what's not in MY wallet anymore.
Seriously, would it kill you to spend the extra 30 seconds to find a non-paywalled source like this CNBC article?
Looks like I get my choice of a Wall Street Journal article that's paywalled, or an Axios Pro article which is also paywalled even though the link says that is isn't.
Damn, dude... are you even trying anymore?
I couldn't tell you if the story was fake news or not, because the article itself is paywalled. Why does Slashdot keep posting this crap?
