Comment Re:Nope, streaming save for ONE station (Score 1) 209

Have you seen the text ads on your car stereo when it's on FM yet? On my 2018 Silverado there's a law firm that uses the text scroll that shows the names of the songs to add in "In an accident? Call xxxxxxx Law" and then their number scrolls by. That feature showing the name of the song and the artist was useful. Actually useful and they still do it for the first 30 seconds of the song and right before it switches to the next but the rest of the time the station shows that stupid ad for the ambulance chaser. I don't use my cars AM/FM anymore. No use for it.

And like every other red state it's covered in blue "sores" called major cities. That's where the population is going and that's where the future state officeholders are going to come from. I'm not for it. I'm mostly conservative and yeah, I wish all these people coming in from out of state would go the fuck home but I'm also not deluding myself about it. It's inevitable. People cluster in cities, Democrats run for office promising them all the free shit they can imagine and get elected. More people come in for the jobs and free shit. Cities are economic engines and Houston (where I am at for example) is a big one. As more Democrat policies come online property taxes start to rise but more people keep coming and eventually they start floating bonds. In Houston/Harris County we flipped local government in 2018. Since then the Democrats in charge of the county have spent every dime they could get their hands on and borrowed even more. Now here in my nice, comfy, Republican controlled red state I get tents on sidewalks, crap and needles on the ground, and high taxes going higher. The solution is simple. Go rural. It's not optimal but I'll be damned if I'm going to stay here.

They're easy to make and apparently, at least in a couple of cases easy to screw up. I'd rather buy my firearms from manufacturers who do this professionally and provide a warranty and a reasonable expectation of safety/quality with their product. Adding a background check and a serial number is fine. Nothing to see here.

I won't fly. Ever. If there's something I want to do and it involves going anywhere near an airplane I find something else to do. Weddings, funerals, etc. If I can't get there by driving I won't be able to make it. You know how so many of us see a problem with something (real or perceived) and say "I'm never going to give them a dime and refuse to ever do business with them again"? Well refusing to ever fly again is the one "boycott" I have managed to make stick and at this point I wouldn't fly if I was handed a golden ticket to heaven by Jesus Christ himself and the only way to get there was a seat on an airline.

There are four buttons on each side of the screen (on the pumps I've used) and invariably the second from the top on the right side has silenced the audio. It's just a automatic response from me at this point to press it. Noticed the other day that while my car radio was playing a song it was sending me text advertisements from a law firm. Seriously who is going to read that or write the phone number being displayed while trying to drive an automobile? If everything is advertising then nothing is. If I wake up every morning with my mind set to automatically ignore everything being thrown in front of my eyes that so much as looks or sounds like advertising does any of it matter?

Nuclear needs to come on strong and the people who cry about it being too dangerous should be pushed out of the way ruthlessly. Forget about cars for a moment and just imagine a world where nearly every power plant is nuclear instead of coal or natural gas. Better yet don't forget about cars because the electricity to power your EV's will come from these reactors as well. It's a no brainer but sadly the human race is short the brains needed to safely make a huge push for nuclear power. You will always have someone cuttings costs and trying to go cheaper building something that should be incredibly sound and overbuilt for safety. It's not going to end well but yeah, you're right. Nuclear solves this if we can manage to do it correctly.

I'm a dying breed and once my generation is gone you have a chance of changing things if you think that will work. I'm not interested if you can or if it will work or not. I don't give a shit. I'll be done and no, I left no children behind. Good luck with all of that.
