It's been noted that the best EVs charge *too fast* for comfort now, i.e. you don't have enough time to use the bathroom and get some coffee & snacks, on such long journeys.
On a longer road trip, say a 400 mile one or so. I stop once for gas to top things off...I have a bathroom break there, total time 10 min or less. If I have to stop to pee again along the way, 5 minutes tops.
Are you telling me that EV are charging faster than 5-10 minutes now?
I didn't realize they'd improved that much this quickly. I could swear I heard much longer times if you were able to find a working station that wasn't already occupied...
There's always some dumb excuse why it can't work in the US. The reality is that Norway is a large country with some long distances to cover, in extreme weather.
There's also a sizable number of people that either aren't interested or outright don't want an EV and don't want it forced upon them.
Any politician ignores this at their own peril electorally....
People are pissed at last few years of inflation, wait till they get a tasted of forced modes of transportation, inconveniences, new limitations the current EVs put on their owners, the cost of collision repair, higher insurance, etc that the current admin is forcing upon the market as well as the general populace...
I charge 98% of the time in my own garage with my own charger
However this is NOT an option for millions and million of folks in the US that do not have the charge at home option.
Unless you can set up publicly available charging stations that are as numerous and fast as a common gas station, probably close to half the nation or a bit less is fucked with this artificial push to go EV only.
I'm still trying to find in my copy of the US constitution where the limited enumerated powers and responsibilities of the Federal govt charge them with telling me and the market what fucking type of transportation can be made or I can buy....
Perhaps we need to go back to the disconnected model that worked in the past that really wasn't "that" long ago really....
Chill
I would say this is Jimmy Savile's account but he's dead.
Who?
Why do I need to plan ahead? To save the planet?
Saving the planet is not a driving factor in any aspect of my life....
I'm certainly not wanting to add any new effort in my life just to get from point A-B....
Or, at least have the time fixed and actually end when the clock runs out...
