Comment Re:I have an idea (Score 1) 266

It still works. Cars can be charged both at night during periods of low demand and during peak solar times when most cars are sitting idle in a lot somewhere. The evening peak demand starts after people get home and fire up the stoves, computers, AC, etc. If you charged that after noon, it is likely that there is still plenty of power in the battery after the commute home. Same thing in the morning. Water heaters coming on after a morning shower tend to push the demand up even after people have left their homes, but that is simple to fix.

The issue right now is that battery cycles are too expensive to use EV batteries this way. Hopefully that will change in the next few years.

I have a very hard time believing that "lack of Bluetooth connectivity" to those crappy seatback screens ever came up in any customer satisfaction poll. How about jets that do not override the pilot and crash? How about leg room? How about not being treated like cattle going to slaughter and getting stuck on the tarmac for hours because we are "safe" on the plane and the flight crew is about to time-out? How about not charging $100 for a couple bags? How about not asking for a government bailout every time there is a hic-up in air travel while squandering your profits?

Once we truly have self-driving cars I am NEVER setting foot on a domestic flight again.

I do not know if there are weight sensors in the driver’s seat of a Tesla. The Tesla does know if the seatbelt is fastened, and it will not engage cruise control or auto-steer (aka autopilot) if the driver’s seat belt is not fastened.

Cruise control can be engaged without lane lines and in some cases it can be engaged from a standstill. There is no limit on cruise control speed if auto-steer in not used.

Comment Re:Alkaline itself wouldn't do this (Score 2) 142

This. It is highly unlikely that the pH alone has anything to do with the liver problems. It may not even be the water, it may be something else that people who buy “Alkaline Water” also purchase. And it may not be a single product. Of it is the water, I suspect a contaminant such as a heavy metal (Nickel?) either in the water or getting leached into the water under certain conditions.
