Look, i want to believe and all, but i just can't. Its always a hoax. Present physical evidence. I am not really going to accept anything less than that.

People can say any shit they want to anyone about anything. Ignoring all reasons it could be fake, the simplest answer to explain what this guy is saying, is not alien coverup. All it needs, is to have a motivation that we do not know.

I'm not saying its not aliens,

But its not aliens.

americans... you can't allow the people who created the problem to try and fix it! they had 50 years to do something about climate change and did nothing, possibly costing the best chance we had.

burn the oil companies to the ground. Or, nationalize them, and divert all new projects from exploration to alternative energy research and production. No new drilling allowed. Within a year we would have real progress.

I do a similar thing where i have no smart devices whatsoever. Not rich enough for a pool, hottub or even house! My appliances all have control panels on the front that i use to control the devices when i am next to them. It works pretty well. When they break as all things do, i buy another used $30 dishwasher and carry on with my life. Yes I dont have the ability to talk to my appliances, but i mean, i don't think i'm missing much.

Comment Re:Started reading it, then stopped (Score 1) 64

I found the book entirely reasonable and timely. You have people who don't trust the government, factions within those, and worldwide secret organizations dedicated to keeping the status quo. You have scientists caught up in the middle, eco terrorists and nihilists.. There is even a rough around the edges detective working the case... Its got a lot in it for everyone. That the aliens use a game as a recruiting tool was well done as well. I enjoyed the fictitious planet of the aliens in 3body and thought that the whole dehydration and time dilation thing was clever and that their world in general was novel.

The plot is plausible, very much so after the last few years where we have seen so many fighting against their own best interests. The way the aliens spy on humanity is also quite good and reminds me of vernor vinges localizer technology.

So i really did enjoy the book and recomend it to others, who also enjoy it. So to each their own. I dont know if i will watch this video of it, because books always contain more than a video can express so i am almost always disapointed. But it would lend itself really well to movies or series for sure. maybe 32 hours would be enough to do it. There are some big concepts explored, especially about ones place in the universe.

Dude i hate to tell you this, but its not just people under 40. Take a bus some time. Literally every person of every age has a phone out their entire trip. You will see the occasional 80+ old person without one, but all baby boomers would have a cellphone at all times out.

Committing crimes with one though, yeah... criminals often aren't the brightest.

Entering my second week with what i am pretty sure is the RSV. Have no energy, its hard to breathe and go up stairs, when before this I was perfectly fine and healthy.

Its pretty nasty. I find I am sleeping most days immediately when i get home from work. No appetite at all, and for the first 5 days i had these chain lightning headaches and fevers. Its not fun at all. Thought it was a head cold at first but its been dragging.

And these will be companies / sites you will be maintaining forever because the industry standard is vmware and you will never be able to find other support people to support your homegrown hodgepodge which you can never take a vacation from.

Oh yeah sounds so much easier, and less fault prone, than paying a few dollars (of not your own money!) for maintenance.

I had to recover one of those sites once from someone who had a brain anuerism and kept no notes. Took way longer than it should have to figure out his nested vm's madness, among other things... It may be a far superior solution, but if you are the only one who knows how it works, that's a huge risk to the company.
