Submission + - Plaque honouring the 'first black Briton' is removed after DNA analysis finds sh (dailymail.co.uk)

An anonymous reader writes: A plaque honouring the 'first black Briton' has been removed after DNA analysis suggested she was not actually of African origin.

The sign celebrating the 1,800-year-old remains of 'Beachy Head Lady' was taken down after scientific research revealed she was 'most likely from Cyprus'.

The plaque was placed in an east Sussex village by BBC Two as part of their 2016 Black and British series where they billed the woman as the earliest 'black Briton', claiming she was of African origin.

If your car was in an accident so severe that it did irreperable structural damage to the underbody that unites all major parts of a unibody car and forms the lower half of the passenger safety cell, the car is a writeoff. It doesn't matter what model it is or how many pieces the manufacturer had to weld or bolt it together from.

It doesn't have to be a structural issue if the fact that the underbody is all one piece keeps you from easily accessing the car's internals.

I seem to remember that back in the 90s the Japanese had gotten much, much taller than their grandparents were and it was attributed to improvements in nutrition.

It's weird how important a person's height can be to themselves and to the people around them. When I was young I was 5 feet and 11.5 inches. And I was annoyed that I wasn't 6 feet tall. (And, yeah, I usually told people I was 6 feet tall.) Anyway, I'm in my late 50's now and, due to some back problems, I lost 2 full inches in height. When I realized it I was both really upset and shocked by how upset I was. And now, today, after the fusion surgery that lets me stand up straight again, the first thing my wife said to me as I came out of the hospital room was "you're tall again!" while she laughed and cried and hugged me...

The article suggests using the geothermal heat as heat, rather than electricity would be much more efficient... but moving industrial facilities (or homes) close enough to those old wells might be a real challenge in a lot of places and the sites themselves might be seriously polluted from extracting the oil.

So, given that the SSD controller is built into the same chip that houses the CPU, I would guess that that second port isn't even connected unless you have the M1 Ultra - because the Ultra is two M1 Max chips bonded together and, therefore, probably has two SSD controllers.
