The original Takeshi Kovacs novels series that this show was basted off of only consisted of three novels anyway, and the series used content from all three. That was one of the things that I was disappointed about the original three novels when I read them. The story just never went anywhere. The universe as a whole was wonderful, but there wasn't a really solid over arching narrative. :/

The tricky thing about most of these files is that it still requires a fair amount of knowledge and several expensive machine tools to build even parts of the weapons. Which is one of the reasons most of the hoopla over these files is massively over blown. The first: back in the early 2000s some nut from New Zealand created a website where he was working out how to create a DIY cruise missile using off the shelf components. He got pretty decently into the project before the US Federal Government leaned on the government of NZ to have him shut down. Secondly we've are now seeing videos and photographs of rather sophisticated DIY weapons systems in conflict zones. Not simply crude shop made guns, but entire armored vehicles and armed drones. They're not nearly as well made as examples of these technologies build by state level actions. But they're more than well enough to be deadly.
