If the network is hitting capacity, why would a network company want to invest in higher speeds, if the gov't is going to tell them how to run their network?

This will spur development of more broadband to people's homes as there is now a double demand for broadband. Google Fiber would then offer a better price to Netflix, and a price war would occur.

It seems like it was just yesterday I was playing this game when it came out. Had a null modem cable to connect 2 PCs in adjacent rooms. Was too short to reach thru the hallway so we had to swing the cable window-to-window to connect. Endless battles between my brother and I. Creating custom levels using the free tools (DCK, I think?).

Except taxes went up (including investment taxes) so there is less money for investment.

Started with AOL. Still remember the tune of my local dial-in number (820-0480). At some point we switched to an ISP (good ole Trumpet Winsock) and used this thing called Netscape and all those other winsock apps (Usenet, IRC, FTP, etc). Also was lucky enough to live near enough to the Software Creations BBS (sysop Dan Linton) so that it was a local call. I remember experimenting with the download protocols (xmodem, ymodem, etc.) and determining Y-modem-g was the fastest.

Verizon owns the fiber so they can do whatever they want with it. If you don't like it, don't use Verizon.

If you don't like Google or Facebook, don't use them. I don't use Facebook. They can do whatever they want, zero privacy, share all data, etc. Doesn't affect me.

These companies only survive if they satisfy their customers. If they annoy people they will go out of business. No regulation required.

We are only asking "Do We Need A Longer School Year" because schools are run by the government. If schooling were free market based, that question would be like asking "Do we need a bigger container size for milk?", and the answer would be that parents could choose whatever kind of school they want.

With the harder Google packaging comes hundreds of dollars of savings. Sounds like a win to me.
