Electric cars aren't quite the latter, but they aren't the model t either.

Tesla Models 3 and Y are being manufactured at Model T rates today. And they're still able to sell every single one they produce with 20%+ margins.

Other companies need to get to that level of manufacturing commitment.

I've got a 2018 North-American car which is pretty common. Turn on/off heated seats? Three touches, minimum.

It's funny that you mention heated seats. To turn on the heated seats on my Hyundai Ioniq 5, I first have to hit the "Warmer" capacitive control (not a real button) located below the screen, then aim my finger at a particular part of the touchscreen "slider" control to get the amount of heat I wanted. It's strange that they didn't dedicate a button for such a feature that I'm always using.

For my Tesla, I had the heated seat control available at all times on the bottom row of my screen. One press, or more than one press on the same button to change the amount of heat. Much easier, even though it was on the touchscreen.

If all you need is a browser to access the internet, consider installing ChromeOS Flex on it. This will once again provide the machine with regular security updates. After years of dealing with my parents and in-laws somehow ending up with infections on their PCs, I finally switched them all to ChromeOS devices and haven't had a single such instance since doing so.

You can contribute to an IRA with those other contributions, but the contributions to the IRA won't be tax deductible like they normally would be.

It may not be tax deductible when you contribute in that scenario, but that's not the whole story.

  • The interest still grows tax-deferred.
  • When you eventually withdraw the money, you do NOT pay tax on the principle that was taxed when you contributed

So it acts like a half-traditional, half-Roth IRA in that scenario.

In Response to False Allegations

There is a false allegation that Tesla terminated employees in response to a new union campaign. These are the facts behind the event:

  • Tesla conducts performance review cycles every six months. Employees receive a performance rating from 1 to 5 in each cycle that helps them calibrate their work with the expectations of their job. In the worst case, if an employee fails to meet their performance expectations they will be let go.
  • This review process takes place globally, including in North America, Europe, China, etc. It is not localized to Buffalo.
  • The most recent performance review cycle was from July 2022 through December 2022. On December 13th, 2022, managers across the company received a communication regarding the review schedule. This included information noting that exits for low performers would start the week of February 12, 2023.
  • Approximately 4% of the employees on the Autopilot labeling team in Buffalo were exited as a result of this performance review cycle. The employees let go as part of this process received prior feedback on their poor performance from their managers over the course of the review period. Despite feedback, they did not demonstrate sufficient improvement.
  • The impacted employees were identified on February 3, 2023, which was well before the union campaign was announced. We became aware of organizing activities approximately 10 days later. We learned in hindsight that one out of the 27 impacted employees officially identified as part of the union campaign. This exercise pre-dated any union campaign.
  • The labeling team in Buffalo, NY has been growing over the last several months at an average rate of around 10 employees a week. Over the last 6 months, the department's employee base has grown 54%, from 437 employees to 675 employees as of the beginning of this week.
  • The reason there is time monitoring for image labeling is to improve the ease of use of our labeling software. Since its purpose is to calculate how long it takes to label an image, there is nothing to be gained by delaying bathroom breaks. The claim that Tesla pressures employees to do so is categorically false.
  •

Our employees in Buffalo are core to our mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy, helping to build Superchargers, Solar Roof and power electronics for many applications.

They will compete with slower growing trees and eventually replace them; thus becoming an invasive specie.

These trees are all female so that they don't release pollen to fertilize other trees.
These trees are all grown on private land, so they don't compete with trees in natural forests.

This isn't someone's pet anaconda that gets loose and procreates, or even a fast-growing pest plant like kudzu. These trees still take 30 years to mature. They will be easy to track and control.

As they grow faster, they will use more water and nutrients, drawn more quickly from soil and air, for their growth.

Perhaps. But these are on private land that will be set aside specifically for this purpose. These will be grown as "crops" to be harvested and re-planted. This is agriculture rather than reforestation. So they'll be fertilized and watered as necessary.

Faster tree growth means less wood density and greater fire susceptibility.

This is complete conjecture. There's no reason to believe that these trees are any more susceptible to fire than natural trees.

I could be wrong but I think the more unprecedented part is that matter came back after crossing the event horizon.

Dude, it's RIGHT THERE in the summary:

"There's a point when you get too close to a black hole that you can no longer escape the black hole — that's called the event horizon. But this material never crossed that boundary, according to our best estimates," Cendes explains. In other words, the star got close enough to the black hole to get shredded — but not to fall into that point of no return.

You're forgetting that an electric motor weighs 5 times less than a combustion engine. It's pretty much a wash nowadays.

Tesla Model S Long Range weight: 4,561 lbs

First, nowhere near that long.
Second, that only matters on long road trips. In daily driving, an EV requires no gas station visits - just plug in at home every night and wake up to a full tank every morning.
