One of key things I was looking for the last time I bought a new phone is how long will the manufacturer support the device (among other things like how âoegreenâ the process is, security, privacy, etc). The maximum was Google at 3 years. I was only considering Android, then for laughs I compared it with Appleâ(TM)s line up, and Apple won without question. At the time they were supporting Phones 5 years old. They were also greener and the privacy options outweigh Googles Android. Hence I switched to iPhone and havenâ(TM)t regretted it.

I have to say magic mushrooms, along with LSD and MDMA shifted my personal beliefs significantly. Until I was 25 I was a regularly drunk stoner that made a living working in factories. After a year of occasionally consuming Shrooms, LSD and MDMA in a recreational setting, they changed my perspective on life. I believed in myself more, I was more open to other people's views and opinions, even if I did not agree with them. They changed my life around, I went and studied physics at university because I had a fascination with how the universe worked. After a 15 year break from psychedelics I have recently got back into them, every time I take them my appreciation for my life and those around me increases... I just get happier. I have to say I was never right leaning, but I can see that the self-reflection I went through can significantly impact someone's view of life and take it less seriously, but more conscientiously.

I'm looking forward to the Fairphone too. I considered it 1.5 years ago before I moved from Android to iPhone. The reason I switched to iPhone is complex, but the leading decision was that Apple is the greenest large manufacturer by far, it's even close to the Fairphone: https://www.greenpeace.org/usa... Yes, Apple have many practices I don't agree with, including repairability. But if you look at Apple's servicing and OS support, they support phones that are 5 years old, unlike Android phones which for most manufacturers are up-to 2 years from the release date, if you are lucky.

That's a pretty great example of how to get China to stop using software. Have all large, small, opensource software vendors release their code with "Free Uyghur" and "Stand with Hong Kong" in the title/splash screen/random pop-up. The long end of this is that China will develop it's own copy-cat software.

I used to work for a corporate from 2005 to 2012 and there everyone got the latest Blackberry. Then I quit in 2012 and got the Galaxy Note II on the release day, it's still running now, although it's slow and has a custom ROM. I have had around 3 replacement aftermarket batteries (they were all pathetic compared to the original), but swapping the battery is easy. Although in early 2019 I upgraded to an iPhone XR, I expect it to last 5 years. It appears Apple will support the hardware for up-to 5 years (that's how long it was in early 2019), no other Android manufacturer at the time could claim the same. My iPhone is in a simple protecting case and I've dropped it a couple of times, but no damage to the phone. One of the main reasons for switching from Android to iPhone is that no other manufacturer with a top-of-the-line phone has green-creds like Apple (see https://www.greenpeace.org/usa...).
