The difference is that by calling it a "vaccine" (which it is CLEARLY not for anyone who has half a brain) the manufactures enjoy immunity from lawsuits. See here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/22/AR2011022206008.html

Just watch. Pretty much every drug is going to be marketed as a vaccine.

Give the http://www.bodhilinux.com/ LiveCD a spin to see what it can do... I love the aesthetic (esp. the zenlike Japanese theme ... hard to get any more ricer than that!). Unfortunately, like KNOPPIX LiveCD is a great showcase of KDE , it's not so smooth getting it running on a standard Debian- or Fedora- based distro without some finagling.

I know this isn't what you meant, but you appear to be conflating two different things. Let me clear this up. Yes, compiling/configuring E on pretty much any distro can be a pain.

NO, absolutely not is this true of installing and setting up Bodhi Linux. Installing and using Bodhi is a breeze. And they have the most welcoming community I've ever come across (take a look at my UID and realize I've never browsed /. on anything but Linux to put that in perspective)

Maybe he did make up the pink part (though I'm pretty sure I've heard that before), but he certainly didn't make up unicorns. So, let's go talk to the person who first talked about unicorns. Oh, drat! Can't do that either.

So why do we teach evolution as the only answer?

Because evolution (or to be more correct, natural selection) is proven. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppered_moth_evolution for just one example. Now, does this prove that life spontaneously formed out of the "primordial soup"? No. But it can't be denied that evolution itself is a fact

This. Especially not bad books. I quite enjoyed Cryptonomicon, and so right now I'm trying to read The Baroque Cycle.

What self-indulgent drivel it is...

His recent work is horrible...

Though I do have to (mostly) agree with you about The Baroque Cycle, I do have to recommend a book of his that came later: Anathem. I enjoyed that one about as much as Cryptonomicon (which is to say, a LOT)

When is the last time you heard about the labor practices that go into making Android handsets?

That's just dumb. Android is not a singular product made by a singular manufacturer. Sure, if you want to criticise one the the many companies who make products that us Android as the OS, then that's okay. And I might even agree with you. But to act like Android there's a singular entity behind making products that use Android is just silly.

...Microsoft's foray into cellphones is getting a free pass, as is Android's attempts at a tablet.

There you go again. Android itself is not trying to do anything. It's just an OS that other people use.

Funny, you call Linux a toy, then just brush off real, clear evidence that it's used for real, serious use FAR more than Windows and OS-X combined, and then talk some stupid shit about desktops. Desktops, for the record, are toys. Servers, where Linux dominates, are not.

Seriously, if you're going to keep trying to defend your absurd statement about Linux being a toy, you're going to make yourself look more stupid than you already have.
