I still can't fathom why we still have Flash player at all considering it's track record. But people keep using it.

Maybe it isn't the VERY BEST book in existence. But don't they all have to be, do they? The point of the conversation was the unreasonable censoring of a teacher for daring to introduce this book to their students.
Sorry you didn't like Ender's Game, but I do know a few that DO like it. And yes, I have found a few that were better since, you know, since it was like 20 years ago.
I think my point stands, that it isn't pr0n, and it is worthwhile reading.
Ender's game is classic, one of the greats. I read it when I was in Elementary school.
The parts about destroying an entire civilization were much more disturbing than any "pornography" that was in the book. I honestly have read it many times since, and I don't know the parts that would be considered pornographic?
I can only hope this is all a big mistake. Depriving children of this great work of art would be tragic.
The whole bleeding heart liberal thing is just getting really old to me. Those of us that can THINK need to hold this type of activity back. Censorship is WRONG.
I would imagine there are a lot more people slaving away building Apple devices than Microsoft. Just sayin'...
What like monty burns putting put up that thing to shade Springfield? LOL. They can't make gas cost less than $100/barrel (as if they want to) but I bet they could figure out the tech to "shade" the Earth quickly and cheaply.
Up next, how much will you pay to keep breathing for a day? A month? A year? For your whole family, group discounts!
"One of the wildest things we did was to make the electrons think they are in a huge magnetic field..."
Whoah... I'm caught on this bit, how can you FOOL an electron? Insane, I love it.
I couldnt agree more. Why the hell would we have to bear more taxes so the govt can fucking SPY ON US. I AM NOT A CRIMINAL AND I DO NOT want to pay MORE TAXES just so the govt can SPY on us. This bill stinks of 1984 and totalitarianism, and I want it dead!
Also please go make yourselves useful RCMP and bust some more speeders, cellphone talking drivers and stoners, since those are theworst crimes you seem capable of stopping. Actually dont bother, lets slash the RCMPs budget and put the money towards heathcare. Since you have nothing better to do with our tax money than gathering more power for yourselves.
I dont know, my stiff upper lip is dubious about where this thread is going...
Random metal objects electrified? Sounds fun!
I honestly don't see "real" desktop computers being replaced any time soon. The larger screens, printers, and more powerful make them the preferred choice (at this time) for any real work, or play, from the usage I have been seeing.
Me and my wife both have brand new smartphones. But the quad core on the desk with 23" monitor is what we both would rather use. Or the dual core attached to the TV. The netbook stays in the drawer.
Of course, everyone has a phone now; I don't think that they are ready to be full desktop replacements yet though is all.
I would imagine the costs of a nanotube forest may be a little above that of most things at this point. But that hopefully will change soon, we need a way to make huge quantities of carbon nanotubes cheaply, so we can start really using the things, the most exciting new technology that has been developed since the airplane, IMHO..
I'm sure many have seen this; Canadian wildlife foundation experiment feeding different drugs to spiders.
The war on drugs IS based on lies. Learning is good. Evidence points overwhelmingly to the war on drugs being far more harmful than the drugs it is trying to stamp out. Including LSD. I've known many people to try many different drugs, and LSD is not one that they've had problems with. Not all drugs are evil.
I've always wondered why we boost so much shit into orbit, and spend so much money generating electricity, when we could just do this ^^^. Orbital power collection stations beaming power where it's needed? What could be simpler? Sure it has a few small drawbacks, but what doesn't? At least this is renewable, and hugely efficient, which is more than can be said for most other things.
There are actually lots of mass in orbit. It is mostly in the form of disposed rocket stages and old satellites. Additive manufacturing, advanced robotics, nuclear power and a few small captured asteroids later and we're in business.
Of course, we could just waste all of our money on senseless wars and litigating ourselves into extinction too if we wanted. Either way. (Sorry... It's a cynical day here..)
