In Italy is forbidden to make avaible public fiscal information on internet.
You can request them at all the single city hall but you cant publish the information gained on internet.
This is giustified with the danger of publishing a list of all richiest men in a single honey-pot (ramson, theft, etc..)

Things doesn't work this way....
You had a budget for IT and a budget for employee they are completely unrelated.
If you lower the IT budget you are making a spending review even if the work isn't done.
Employee can work or not, they are paid in either case, you can't fire them because they didn't work (want or can is the same).
It' so simple from a bureaucratic and political point of view!

I tried many flavor of ubuntu and now I always use Xubuntu.
Simple and fast. Set automatic update and make two users, Administrator and User. Never give away the administrator pwd.
Install vino and set permission for remote desktop.
Be clear on one Thing!!! You are not the one to ask for it, they asked for it! They can change any time they want and pay for!

Brewing Beer With Free Software 83
An anonymous reader tipped us to an interview with Phillip Lee, author of Brewtarget, one of the best pieces of Free brewing software available (it's even in Debian). The interview discusses some of the technical decisions made (why Qt and Cmake?), and mentions a bit of the plans for future development: "The way the database was designed previously really hadn't been changed since the my first code in 2008, and we were running into a brick wall with some of the features we wanted. After we move to SQLite, there will be quite a lot of new features like being able to search through the ingredients in the database and stuff like that. I also plan to add some water chemistry tools for people that like to alter the ions and salts to fit a particular profile." (The last bit about water salt modifications comes as a relief to at least this brewer.)
