Iceland Considers Internet Porn Ban 684

Onymous Hero writes "With the printing and distribution of pornography already banned in Iceland, further measures to stop internet porn are being considered by Iceland's Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson. From the article: "Iceland is taking a very progressive approach that no other democratic country has tried," said Professor Gail Dines, an expert on pornography and speaker at a recent conference at Reykjavik University. "It is looking a pornography from a new position — from the perspective of the harm it does to the women who appear in it and as a violation of their civil rights.""

Well, look at it this way, if a dinosaur stepped in mud and left a print, then a man came along and stepped in the same mud and left a print, it's hard to believe there were millions of years between the two incidents. If what you say is true than the science of determining the passage of time through stratification is just plain false. Even a thousand years or so leaves things buried, that is why we have archaeological digs. I know there are exceptions, but I find it hard to believe that the mud the dinosaur stepped in was uncovered by an earthquake or whatever and still fresh enough that some human could leave a print in it a million years later.

No, and I hope that you are not so stupid just to assume that it is fake just because you don't think it's real. I trust the dude by the Paluxy River more than I trust your sage insight, though not enough to believe it without some form of verification. Hence, I figured this was a great time to get the opinion of a guy who has probably studied the evidence.

When a bank gets robbed, us citizens pay for the loss either through bank fees and such or through the (in the case of the us) fdic. In either case, the money is gone. Before fdic came along, if a bank was robbed of enough, it went under and everyone lost their money.

On another note, hopefully you have learned about the necessity of Version control. You also hopefully have been learning good CS practices such as only having one source for information (code functionality is information) abstraction etc. There are good reasons for these practices and the sooner you learn them the more valuable you will be.

Also, don't be a information hoarder or a primadona! Be willing to talk and work withouther sharing ideas and concepts. Sometimes the idiot next to you will surprise you with just all that he does really know.

They rejected an app called wi-fi sync last year and have incorporated the same in iOS 5 when it was unveiled this week.

Genghis Khan, History's Greenest Conqueror 279

New research suggests that in addition to being one of history's cruelest conquerors, Genghis Khan may have been the greenest. It is estimated that the Mongol leader's invasions unintentionally scrubbed almost 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere. From the article: "Over the course of the century and a half run of the Mongol Empire, about 22 percent of the world's total land area had been conquered and an estimated 40 million people were slaughtered by the horse-driven, bow-wielding hordes. Depopulation over such a large swathe of land meant that countless numbers of cultivated fields eventually returned to forests. In other words, one effect of Genghis Khan's unrelenting invasion was widespread reforestation, and the re-growth of those forests meant that more carbon could be absorbed from the atmosphere." I guess everyone has their good points.
