Back in the day you could purchase a Kindle that was specifically an "ad-supported" model for something like $50-$75 less than the identical tablet without ads.

I respected the transparency at least -- to someone, saving that money might be worth it, while others are happy to pay the full amount for an ad-free tablet.

As long as it's up front and the consumer actually saves some money, ad-supported is perfectly fine. It's when we no longer get a choice that it becomes infuriating.

People need to stop thinking this is a universally recognized truth. It's not. Privatized utilities, private prisons, privatized toll roads -- all are lower quality and higher cost than their publicly-owned counterparts.

"Government is a failure" is the GOP party line because **they** fail at everything they try.

You can't say prices should rise to what the market will bear, without saying CEO wages should fall to what the market will bear -- not "well that seems right given how much responsibility they have."

If there are people qualified to be the CEO of a company and willing to work for 50x employee wage, then if the CEO is making 250x employee wage, then CEO wages are being propped up and we don't have a free market.

Some organizations, including government, keep logs of incoming and outgoing communications from employees, sometimes mandated by law, sometimes by choice.

Nobody wants their personal shizzle lingering around waiting to be unearthed at some point.

Also, the more entwined your work and personal life, the harder it is to separate them.
