When can we get these goodies in rural America?

I'm a commercial artist [hate that term 'graphic designer'--what does that mean?]. Good artistic software is better on the Mac, but Apple computers are 'overtaxed'.
Just bought an Asus Vivobook and want anything else I can turn into a Hackintosh. I like OS X through 10.6. Hate the new disposable, glued, soldered, special screwed Mac hardware.
Windows 8 is kind of neat once you get rid of all the junk, but it sucks for actual work. Linux is interesting, but I use X10 on Mac, also Crossover Mac.
no...chicken taste like dinosaurs.
We pay a lot for Apple products. We want to own them, inside and out.
Apple is a whirlwind of bad attitude, from sealed, glued, soldered hardware to software that won't load until changing code so that the OS doesn't recognize that it's "too old" to run. They loudly [yelling salesperson AND "genius" AND phone support], and provincially, claim that nobody ever unlocks phones, so they will never unlock my out-of-contract iPhone. Can't change the battery easily. Bought another unlocked Nokia phone instead.
Worst is that lots of other companies followed the pied pipers of Cupertino into the fantasy world of locked, soldered, sealed proprietary devices. At least those others don't charge the Apple tax. So I'm working on a Hackintosh instead.
I'll be able to see ultraviolet light and infrared with enhanced color spectrum vision, or I can wait until I get cataracts to see infrared, and see ultraviolet light after surgery.
Won't need a radiation detector when I can see X-rays and gamma rays.
X-ray vision will be fun too.
I already have a built-in compass.
In order of preference - Acer Iconia, Color Nook, Sylvania something, iPad. Samsung Galaxy II is on sale Black Friday -- might buy that. All except iPad have miniSD slots, USB. Iconia and Samsung have HDMI for videos.
Android. Find specs first. I like the Nook. It fits in a large pocket; handle keeps hand from getting tired. Can be rooted, but as is, is stuck with B&N store with Android 2.2, has no camera. Good for reading. Easy to load books from store or computer. Convert formats with Calibre software. Plenty of Color Nook tablets on sale on the Internets - first version is OK.
European DSL can be as fast as 40Mbps. In rural France, ours was around 15Mbpa, and very cheap.
He'll never be able to call the Car Guys again!
They should call him or friend him on Facebook.
What at the Smithsonian is cooler than MacCready's 'working' model of a Pteranodon---Quetzalcoatlus northropi--that flew by remote control. He was a navy pilot who became intrigued with gliders, and invented a human powered aircraft [Gossamer Condor] and solar powered aircrafts.
Uh, oh. Did MacCready's Quetzalcoatlus give birth to today's fighter drones?
Safari put the refresh "button" on the right of the address field. It was stupid then, and stupid now. I can Customize buttons where I want in Firefox.
They're going to change that???? Chrome doesn't have a customize feature for the toolbar, does it? Maybe it might if I log in, but don't want to do that.
I like beer too.
It's pointless to create a unified look and feel that works exactly the same on a cell phone and a 24-inch display. Not possible. Not necessary.
Of course, this may be a way to keep people working instead of firing them. But why not simply call it a jobs program?
It's gotten to the point where Firefox or Thunderbird tell me there's a new upgrade that I say "NO!"
Works fine for me. The thing I don't understand is why a coder would think it's a good idea to keep changing common keyboard commands. Idiots!
If Mozilla wants Firefox to be more like Chrome, they really need to build daily multiple crashes into it. Seems like just when I'm in the middle of reading, searching, watching something in Chrome, a tab, multiple tabs, window, windows become unresponsive, then shut down. Only issue is that it stopped displaying PDFs in the browser with one of the last releases. No devolution for Firefox!
I like SeaMonkey. I hope they don't "FIX" it. It's very good as it is.
I'm sure the power plant requires fuel to process the food, so is it realy practical? Besides, how is this any better than using Corn or Suger Cain for fuel, that's already being done.
Better idea is to use ALL of the GMO Corn and Soybeans for fuel until it's used up, so people and animals won't have to eat food that makes them sick. By the time the GMO crops are gone, we'll have enough honeybees to fertilize the crops.
Real Programmers don't eat quiche. They eat Twinkies and Szechwan food.
