Not often I have an internet feel good moment, so thanks for sharing. Seems like a humble man and I'm glad he's getting some recognition for his pioneering contributions.
What percentage of those meetings were unnecessary? In my mind, it's no surprise that people are not engaged and/or arrive late to worthless meetings. Some people definitely have a knack for scheduling meetings when a team chat or email thread would suffice.
...they already limit the number of concurrent streams. I've analysed my reaction to being charged more for exactly the same thing and I'm certain I would cancel my subscription. Ball is in your court Netflix. Choose wisely.
Since the courts have decided that cops can look at your phone without a warrant if they can get into it, how could this extend to this type of thing? Can they look warrant-less into all the future things that might by extension also be accessible? Food for thought.
They already limit number of concurrent streams...
Bean counters trying to squeeze more from same group of people since they can only raise subscription prices so often. They may end up driving more people away and lose more money in the end. Netflix is already underutilized in my house, and there will become a price point where I cancel. Hopefully they were wise enough to make the algorithm go primarily after the heavy users who are sharing because the first time I have to unnecessarily jump through hoops will likely be the last.
Just throwing this out there, but I don't think the dead ones care.
Quick, how much more do non-union CEOs get paid than their employees? Answer: a lot.
Meaningless.
Interesting that wages in those transitioned industries have stagnated since. It is almost as if Unions don't suck.
Throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's like people who think that because government can be dysfunctional, it should be eliminated. As with most things useful, when something isn't working out perfectly, you hone and adjust to correct and improve, you don't just discard. I mean, yeah dysfunctional governments can suck, but so do Warlords.
I'd also wager much of the US workforce also doesn't hold their corporate executives in high regard either.
I reckon Google's reputation has been soiled by killing off products and excessive ads. Or is that just me?
I would have liked to see comparison per watt as well.
And that isn't just about battery as some surmise. Some people want to draw less power in general for any given workload. It's good for the earth, the wallet and solar setups.
Just throwing this out there. Google kinda sucks now....that is all.
Well said.
Also it's worth pointing out that petroleum hasn't been in use all that long in the scheme of things. And I don't anticipate it would take that long to make a shift with proper planing and forethought, just like it didn't take much time to move from horses to engines. Did it 'wreck' horse based economies? Yeah, I reckon it did. Did it create new industries and expand the economy as a whole? Absolutely.
It is also worth mentioning that the costs of not doing anything will be realized one way or another. No amount of hyperbole changes that. We either invest to transition in a structured fashion and create new industries at the same time, or we can frantically flounder at increased expense and maybe lose everything, as in GAME OVER. But I guess that is one way to ensure an immediate halt to fossil fuels, exploration, refinement, jobs, use and economies.
Good.
Can't be a productive serf if you are playing video games. Probably throwing out their long term productivity and growth goals. Nip that shit in the bud.
