It's a stupid model to begin with. What brainiac thought people would want to share rides with total strangers?

But people do want to do that if they are paid, especially with rising gas prices. Who does it? People who want to make a money to fill the car up and buy lunch at work. Instead of having a fixed carpool, it is a dynamic car pool.

I have a *personal* vehicle for a few reasons, convenience and comfort are the two biggest ones. ... I'm not looking to do all of that. I just want to get in my car and go where I need to go, that's the whole point of having personal transportation.

That is you. It is nice you neither need nor want to have someone ride with you. Other people might need to make a few extra bucks on their way too and from work, the store, the mall, etc. to pay gas and/or insurance.

I like not having random strangers next to me.

That is you. Many people don't mind it, especially if there is money in it for them.

You entire post is about why you don't want to drive Uber or Lyft which you then apply to everyone else. You haven't made a single argument why it is a stupid idea beyond "I don't want to do it."

People don't read comics to relate to the superheroes. Superheroes are wish fulfillment. Sure, the readers like to see superheroes having normal problems at times but the readers really want to see the superheroes overcoming obstacles, large and small.

One thing fans of current characters don't like is making major changes to well established characters, especially if it appears to be pandering to a small, vocal group. Superman has been around for over 80 years and now, suddenly, he is bi because LBGTQ+. Being bi doesn't add anything to Superman or the comic. It just adds 3.5 billion more people with whom he can't safely have sex

Changing an existing character's race or gender to be woke or appeal to a new demographic will lose at least a portion of one's current demographic because their favorite character is no longer the same.

Imagine if the first Thor movie never had a male Thor. How well do you think that would have gone over with current Marvel Thor fans? I suspect like a lead balloon because Thor is a muscular white man for most people. In fact, Thor of the comics starts out as Dr. Donald Blake a surgeon who walks with a cane until he finds Mjolir and that was completely cut from the story because who wants to watch slim, partially disabled Dr. Blake work as a doctor instead of a muscular Norse storm god kick ass? Natalie Portman's female Thor will work because she is in the comics and there will still be male Thor being himself. But imagine if it was just Jane as Thor from the first movie. Will it still pull in the big audience? If you think so, I suggest you take a look at the female Ghostbusters movie.

Lyft and Uber are not supposed to be taxi services. Drivers are supposed to circle around waiting for their next fare. It is supposed to be a ride sharing service. This is how they are supposed to work:

Person 1 is going from point A to point C. Person 2 wants to go from near point A to point B which is on the way to point C. Person 1 picks up Person 2 from near point A and drops him off at point B and then continues on to point C.

That is one less car on the road, less pollution, etc.

Because are trying to make their living off this model, they aren't following this model. Instead, those people follow the taxi model where the vehicle continues to drive around. This wipes out the pollution benefit.

As a store, would you hate to have 99.99% of your customers pissed off at you because 10 minutes after you put a style of shoe up for sale the entire stock sold out to that 0.01% resulting in fewer repeat customers?

You are extremely shortsighted and it is your kind of thinking that results in businesses failing.

if someone can engage in arbitrage

This is not arbitrage. Arbitrage is buy in a location of plenty and selling in a location of scarcity. This is creating a global scarcity by corning the market then jacking up the price. This is creating a spike in demand by depleting the supply and then making a profit price gouging on the sale of the items.
