Comment Standards people! (Score 2) 184

If it only works with Firefox, then they're not clearly using HTML5 standards. Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer 9 all have a great support for HTML5. Why is it not working with them? And this is open source project, which should have even more standard support than proprietary software. Or is Microsoft actually better? Do it correctly!

Yes, you can use separate software to do it.. You could do it with old IE's too. The fact still remains that Firefox is the only current browser lagging sandboxing and security. Even Chrome has it.

The interesting thing is how good IE9 actually is compared to the older versions. It's a huge advancement from Microsoft and provides browser for casual people that also supports all the newest standards like HTML5 and is extremely secure. Firefox is currently the only browser lacking plugin sandboxing.. They're really lagging behind, and Microsoft has taken over Firefox.

It's also collaboration suite and other products. Now I'm not saying Google is required to add such support, but those schools should think if these tools really fit them. If their collaboration software is completely non-working and unusable for the blind students, then the school is obviously choosing wrong software.

This is also problem with so many open source projects. They all forget about disabilities and blind people. I've tried to get them to support them, but no one is interested adding such features. That's what proprietary software has done a lot better - they actually do account for disabled and blind people too. It's a major obstacle with open source software, but for example Microsoft and other big companies have generally supported such features.
