Comment Thanks and Good Luck (Score 1) 1521

Taco: Many, many thanks for investing all that love into this site which I discovered with great joy and happened to read every day since then. Let all the good karma you accumulated these years be with you and your family in whatever activity that you engage next. ...And who knows, maybe you come back more often than you think...

Thanks again to you and to all your team.

I don't think these published accounts are 'paid' accounts. There is no reason to think that they are.

Also pron.com does not require email confirmation to make an account: I just signed up with email address 'president@whitehouse.gov' and got immediately logged in to the site.

Giant Planet Nine Times the Mass of Jupiter Found 73

cremeglace writes "In the late 1990s, astronomers noticed a distinct warp in the disk of dust and gas orbiting a young star some 60 light-years from Earth. Now, using new analytical tools, researchers have discovered a giant planet lurking within the dusty haze. About nine times as massive as Jupiter and composed mainly of gas, the planet is only a few million years old, proving that such enormous planetary bodies can form rapidly." What's amazing about this is that the images taken of the star clearly show the planet first on one side of the star, and then the other, several years later.

Submission + - P2P and P2P links Ruled Legal in Spain

Nieriko writes: Summary translated from a barrapunto article
After three years of arduous litigation, Jesus Guerra Calderon, owner of both a small bar and the P2P link webpage 'elrincondejesus.com' has beaten the SGAE (something like the spanish version of the RIAA). An historical sentence states not only the legality of link webpages, but also the legality of P2P file sharing networks. Quoting the judge: "P2P Networks as mere data transmision networks between individual internet users, do not breach any rights protected by the Intelectual Property Law". Downloading a file (from a P2P network) for private use is perfectly legal as soon as there is no lucrative or collective use of the downloaded copy. English news links here and here.

Submission + - Speed-Assembling Servers (boingboing.net)

Nieriko writes: Boing boing has a blog entry about this: The Planet is holding competitions to speed-assemble rack-mounted servers. It's like watching latter-day Marines field-strip and assemble their weapons. There is a video on youtube about this incredible contest. Looks pretty challenging.
