I'm sorry, but that's just not how it works. The Bible isn't just a single body of work, it's a collection of history and laws spread out across thousands of years, detailing God's word, etc. Things change over time. Prophecies are fulfilled, promises are met.

Look at it this way: when the God of the Universe himself comes down and says "Hey, all that stuff I told you before has been taken care of. now all I want you to do is to love Me and each other, and to spread the word." that tends to change one's outlook. The Old Testament, as it stands, is now a history book that we can learn from, not a body of law that we are to strictly follow. It still reflects the Word of God, and is thus still applicable for teaching and insight, but it's not like Christians are being told not to eat pork, or not leave their houses on the Sabbath, or go to war with the Canadians because that land was promised as an inheritance at some point in the past.

Love God, love everyone else too. That's what it boils down to.

Now let's go back to being mutually happy that we're allowed to play and buy video games where we shoot up aliens, okay? ;)

Submission + - Hardware Vendor Offers Backdoor with Every Product (threatpost.com)

Nameisyoung007 writes: A support page, titled "Backdoor Password for Allied Telesis Devices" recently turned up on Google. The page, labeled ***INTERNAL ONLY*** was written to answer customer questions like "'How do I obtain a backdoor password for my Allied Telesis device?'" and includes instructions on accessing a "built in Backdoor function" on any Allied Telesis device.

Probably a good time to double check your devices, just to make sure you're not affected.

Submission + - Is The iPhone's Growth Over? (itworld.com)

jfruhlinger writes: "The iPhone maintains a healthy chunk of the smartphone market, more than the Mac ever had in the computer world. But as Android phones grow in popularity at Symbian and Windows Mobile's expense, the iPhone's market share remains basically flat. The overall smartphone market is growing, and absolute iPhone sales numbers are going up with it — but not enough to capture a bigger piece of the buy, something that may ultimately worry Apple investors."

Submission + - Big Content is strangling American innovation (hbr.org)

hype7 writes: "Harvard Business Review is running an article close to many slashdotter's hearts: the problems with "Big Content". They make the argument that all the measures that the movie and music industry are putting in place to protect their business models actually threatens to undermine the innovation engine that the US has built up in the tech space. Very interesting reading."
Microsoft

Submission + - MS Delivers WP7 Numbers - Kind Of (theinquirer.net)

WrongSizeGlass writes: The Inquirer has an article entitled Microsoft delivers the numbers on Windows Phone 7. Opening with "Anyone who was under a rock when Microsoft launched and then fluffed the first update to its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system will be pleased to see that the firm has compiled some statistics about the software" it appears that we would finally have some Windows Phone 7 sales numbers, but instead it only included numbers related to developers: downloads of VS Express & Expression Blend 4 for Windows Phone (1.5 mil), paid members of the development community (36,000), new developers per week (1,200), applications in their App Store (11,500), apps downloaded by customers (around 12 per month) and applications generating ad revenue (1,100).

Is it just me or does the lack of Windows Phone 7 sales numbers tell the true tale of MS's latest mobile OS? Does IDC know something the rest of us don't?
