for everyone NOT getting this reference, imagine sitting in a pub in Europe, and some nondescript '70's folk/rock song comes on the air, and you don't really notice anything until at one point everyone in the bar is shouting "Who the fuck is Alice". Quite an amusing chain of events if you'd like to check out the story and I recommend 'tubing various versions so you can get the full effect.

He's been travelling to HP sites across the globe to get face to face employee input and hopefully boost morale. I'd much rather he do that and get a handle on the company than submit to Oracle's harassment in a suit where he's already given sworn, taped testimony. The last thing HP needs is another lame-ass distraction for the CEO.

For the case of beer, it would depend on the type of beer drank -- most crap american beers have very little, almost imperceivable amounts of bitterness, but the same is also true for many import beers. IPAs tend to be fairly bitter, but even then how would the bittering agents be delivered to the lungs? The bitterness comes from the isomerization of alpha acids during the boiling of the wort -- 60 minutes is generally required to isomerize and extract the alpha acids. Hops that are not boiled for very long will contribute more aromatics which come from volatile oils, and are not bittering. So, if you're smoking and enjoying a beer, about the only way I see the bitterness from the beer (or coffee) opening up your lungs would be by choking on it after taking a big nasty puff. But then again, that would be closing up your lungs first with the fluid. That said, if I could get an aerosolized form of hop with both the bitterness and aromatics, I'd buy it in a heartbeat even without having asthma or any kind of CLPD. I'd love to take a "Hop Shot"

I wonder if there are similar effects to adult beverage enjoyment. I always enjoy my homebrew as well as local and national Craft beers, but this article makes me wonder if there are certain flavor profiles or characteristics I prefer based on my environment or the noise level related to it. When I think about it, I tend to prefer darker, deeper, more complex beers, maybe with a stronger emphasis on the malt character in a quieter setting, but then prefer a crisper, hoppier bite from, say, a classic pilsner or pale ale or IPA even in louder, more enthusiastic environments. Definitely something I'll be paying attention to in the future....

Ok, what we really need to do is create a simulator for a small craft to destroy the asteroid while said craft and means of deployment is being developed. Something using vector graphics should be quick and easy to come up with on the simulator side. The craft should be maneuverable and have a cannon capable of breaking the large asteroid into smaller and smaller chunks until these chunks can be destroyed by the cannon. Incidentally, the cannon should also be able to defend against alien craft in case of their interference. High scorers can be recruited to pilot the craft to save the earth.
