He's not happy about being vendor locked, he's happy because it's seamless to upgrade a device he LIKES to another device he'll like. There isn't really a downside to that.

When I upgraded my Android, I enabled the sync and I had damn near everything on my new phone (including settings) before I got home from the store. When I got home, it remembered my wifi settings from my previous phone and finished the sync on wifi. That's damn convenient! Is this a feature that will further make me consider Android in the future? Yes it is!

How do you figure? You're already broadcasting it into a public space, I would make the argument that you've already opted into people using the data however they want. If you then choose to opt out even though you've given your information out to the world, then they've given you a way to do so.

As long as the person doesn't attempt to hack into your computer network (which brakes another set of laws), they should be able to use the SSID data however they want. Afterall, you can hide the SSID (which does next to nothing from a security standpoint, but would prevent this).

Every instance of bricking I've ever heard of means that you 'make it equivalent to a brick' ie completely useless. Boot loop that can't be fixed, can't charge, won't turn on, bad flash, etc...

A phone that can't be put on a cell network again is still very useful as an MP3 player, game machine, SIP phone, etc..., all of which is NOT capable on something that is bricked.

Either the AC is trying to be funny or he couldn't think of anything intelligent to say, but still wanted to be a part of the conversation. It's a stupid point to make since a rather large percent of the population uses the word borrow in that way. Language changes, get over it.

Agreed, you can state that it isn't US Google DOING this (and you would be absolutely correct), but you cannot make the implication that US Google isn't ultimately responsible for this.

I love Google products and prefer their brand of evil to most anyone elses, but that doesn't mean they get a free pass when one of their branches does something insanely stupid.

No, because it's a different search. I'm sure there are plenty of people that search 'MS Antivirus' because they're looking for an AV program or because they're looking for the AV software that Microsoft makes, but they don't know its name.

'MS Antivirus Malware' might not be searched nearly as often, but it is a string that occurs more enough, so its added as a suggestion, the same is likely true for strings like 'MS Antivirus name' or 'MS Antivirus recommendations'
