No offense, but its a matter of scale. This man was famous for good reason. Your grandmother, while I'm sure you loved her very much, did not advance humanity in any way, otherwise she too would have been mourned in the news. Yes human culture's celebrity worship is excessive 99% of the time, but this is one of the cases where we as a species have genuinely lost someone of great import.

Our wonderful Supreme Court ruled that corporations are people. And people are allowed to monetarily support the candidates they like. Welcome to America, we are not a democracy, we are not a republic, we are a corporatocracy.

The PSP in general is the best selling non-Nintendo handheld, ever. Its a pretty big accomplishment. Sony has quite a big clue as to what they're doing, and are scaring the pants off Nintendo while they do it (See: Nintendo price dropping the 3DS a week after announcing that the Vita launch price is == 3ds launch price, well before nintendo normally price drops.)

RTFA. The Judge said the EULA states that you own your PS3, which is a given. You do not own PSN, that is a License. Sony did not remove OtherOS. They said if you install the newest firmware, it removes OtherOS. See the difference? Sony cannot just shut off your PS3. But they can deny access to PSN and new games. I know its all hip and trendy to hate on Sony, but they removed a feature less than 1% of "gaming" PS3s used. Its not a huge deal other than for nerds to get their panties in a twist over.

And honorary degrees are still academic degrees. Just with the standard requirements removed. From Wikipedia: "An honorary degree[1] or a degree honoris causa (Latin: "for the sake of the honour") is an academic degree for which a university (or other degree-awarding institution) has waived the usual requirements, such as matriculation, residence, study, and the passing of examinations. The degree is typically a doctorate or, less commonly, a master's degree, and may be awarded to someone who has no prior connection with the academic institution. Usually the degree is conferred as a way of honoring a distinguished visitor's contributions to a specific field, or to society in general. The university often derives benefits by association with the person in question."

What makes you think it'll bomb? The PSP was a resounding success for a non-Nintendo handheld. The Vita scared Big N enough that they price dropped the 3DS only a couple months after release, which is unheard of. I expect the Vita will do moderately well, and those of us who aren't violently anti-capitalist will enjoy our portables, while Slashdoteers continue their hatred of any company who DARES make money.
