An anonymous reader writes: Red Hat has been sued by Software Tree, which claims JBoss (distributed by Red Hat) infringes a patent. They didn't go after previous infringers since they see Red Hat as having more money. Sigh.

andylim writes: Several mobile gaming companies are developing cross-platform multiplayer games allowing Android and iPhone users, for example, to play games against each other. Last month touchArcade reported on a cross-platform baseball game developed by Com2Us, called Homerun Battle 3D. Unlike turn-based multiplayer mobile games, Homerun Battle 3D, allows players to compete against each other instantly but you don't see the other player, instead you only get to see your competitor's score being updated. Pushing cross-platform multiplayer games even further, a company called Bulky Pix, has created a table football style game that displays the action as it happens — both players see the ball moving around. This hopefully suggests that first person shooter cross-platform multiplayer mobile games aren't far behind.

VegetativeState writes: Someone set up a bogus website and created accounts on Twitter and Facebook, all to promote "The Boston 411 Bridal & Home Show 2010" (Bing cache http://cc.bingj.com/cache.aspx?q=the+boston+411+bridal+home+show+2010&d=4536941533988299&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&w=17475215,9828ac37).' The promotions claimed it would be held at the convention center March 5-7. An estimated 5,000 people paid at least $15 a person and that about 200 businesses also paid fees, ranging from $350 to $4,000. The payments were made through PayPal".

The Boston Police are trying to alert vendors before they fly into Boston with their booth setups this weekend, that there is no such show.

n0tWorthy writes: Mythbusters stated that the myth that you could be electrocuted by peeing on the 3rd rail was "busted" as the stream would be broken up due to distance and there wouldn't be a continuous path for the electrical current to follow. This seems to be refuted by a Monsanto Washington man that was found electrocuted after urinating into a ditch that had a downed power line.

"...there will be an autopsy but burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through Messenger's body." Ouch!

This game, an MMO released by the makers of Myst and Riven in 2003, has been canceled, zombified, resurrected, canceled again, and is now about to be released as open source to its dedicated fan base. Massively has written a brief newbie guide if you're unfamiliar with the game."

Like everything else trusted to corporations (ahem! Healthcare) they are trying to get as much money from us cash cows as they can. But, it is their job since we are in a free (ish) market economy. But, I still think the internet should be free for all since it is the primary means of communication now.
