Comment Simple solution (Score 1) 133

I drive a car that's over 20 years old. It has no computers in it that could be hacked to do anything more harmful than cause me to have poor gas mileage.
I could leave the keys laying on the hood in the parking lot of Walmart and no one would bother with it.

I don't care about luxury, I care about a simple old car that will get me 5 miles a month to the grocery store twice a month.
I care that it's old and simple enough that I can find someone besides a NASA scientist to work on it if it breaks.

You want to drive tomorrow's technology? Go for it..
I'll stick with old faithful that no one wants to bother with. Best of all, it's long since paid for and I'm not in debt to ANYONE for ANYTHING.

Kitchenware. Yes please. A full set of pots, pans, plates, the works.
I do not like cooking in or with metal because it leaves a metallic taste in the foods
but using glassware, there is always the risk of breaking it and injuring someone.
And Corningware changed their glass type and they now are prone to EXPLODE at all the wrong times and places.

I would gladly pay for a kitchen full of this stuff, it would last forever and solve many problems at in one.

So hurry up and get that stuff to market!

I'm a 50yro woman and I have an iPhone. My 3rd one as a matter of fact.

1st one was a 1st gen that my son gave me.
I promptly jailbroke and unlocked it for use on a non-AT&T system, on my on, without help from anyone.

My BFF dropped it and broke the screen so I bought another just like it on ebay.
I also jailbroke and unlocked that one and installed *anything* I wanted on it.

About 6 months ago I bought a one month old 3gs on ebay and retired the previous iPhone to use as a remote control for my home theater.
The new one, I jailbroke and unlocked it as well, just like the others before it.

For now, I am sitting with 3.1.3 on it, I'm doing my homework before I bump it up to 4.2.x. 3.1.3 is working fine for me and I'm in no big rush, I have other things to do that are much more important.

I love my iPhone. It's easy to use and easy to hack. I can put anything I want on it, do anything I want with it, use it in any way I wish.
And I totally love my winterboard Tinkerbell theme.. My friends are all jealous.. :-)

The droid stuff? I don't trust it, I don't trust google. But then again, I don't trust Apple much either.
Apple makes some great products but their garden wall policies are draconian.

To the person who controls what his wife uses, how about you let her decide what she wants and then help her learn to take control of it so you don't have to "support her". How about you empower her with knowledge and give her freedom to make her own decisions and purchases?

I call them United Package Smashers.

EVERYTHING I ever get shipped to me via UPS comes in with the box smashed and torn.
I'm amazed that anything survives the abuse they dish out on packages.
And this time of year they use those golf cart ATV thingies with trailers to deliver. All the packages are towed around for miles with no tarps over them to protect them from the weather or to keep something from bouncing out of the little trailers they tow behind. I do NOT approve.

I hate them.

USPS gets things to me in much better shape but their tracking system SUCKS. You can NOT track the progress of a package, they do not update until it's on your porch.
Worst tracking system of all.

Fed-ex is not bad, no real complaints with them. Decent tracking and stuff comes in in better shape than UPS.

DHL, I dont' like how they farm it out to some joker in a rental van. I don't trust that.

Sweeeeeet! Thank you!

My iPhone is jailbroken and unlocked.

When I got my first one, I was a loooong time Centennial Wireless customer and was very happy with their service. Very happy.
My son bought a new iPhone and gave me his 1st gen which I promptly popped my OLD Centennial SIM into (I had an old Nokia) then unlocked and jail broke it to work on Centennial. It worked like a charm though I had no wireless internet, never had it on the Nokia, never wanted it on the Nokia, it was too basic.
So I had internet in my house, McDonalds, etc.. Good enough for me.

My BFF dropped it and broke it though and I bought another one just like it and repeated it all over again. Everything still cool.

Then I got tired of the slowness of the 1st gen and bought a used 3GS in like new condition on ebay. Again, I jailbroke it and unlocked it with Spirit.
Still using the old Centennial / Nokia SIM. And still, no internet except via WIFI. Fine with me.

See, I have an awesome plan that they grandfathered me in on when AT&T (SUCKS) bought Centennial. For $29 a month I get 200 minutes a month outgoing and unlimited 24/7 incoming minutes. People can call and talk to me 24 hours a day and it doesn't cost me a cent. Why would I want to change that?

If I fess up to them that I have an iPhone they will force me into a new $100 a month plan that I do not want, can not afford and have no use for.
I do not need internet when I'm driving. If I need internet when I'm away from home I'll pull into a McDonalds and use their WIFI and have a burger and a diet coke in exchange. But pay $40 a month for a limited voice plan and another $40 a month for a VERY LIMITED internet plan, NO WAY.

They can KMA.

I love that my phone is jailbroken so that I can customize it in anyway I want. I'm not giving up my Tinkerbell theme for anyone, they can go to hell.
I'm still using 3.1.3 because I do not at all trust the new iOS4. I have heard they have a kill switch built into it to brick JB/UL'd phones.

I'm on Cydia however and I can not find the "SBSettingsAdBlockToggle" app.. :(

I resent ads being injected into EVERYTHING on my iPhone.
And I do not even use the internet through the cell system, I use it as a WIFI ONLY device and as a cell phone.
When I'm not around my WIFI or a WIFI that I have permission to use, I have no internet, I have cell phone service only, BY MY CHOICE.

But the ads, I'm sick of it. Why doesn't someone take iOS and GUT the ad injection capability from it?

If nothing else, how about Mozilla for iPhone with Adblock Plus ?? I could dig that.

Haven't many of these minimum wage thugs been discovered to have felony convictions in their backgrounds?
