Comment Sorry but we need that budget for Ukraine instead. (Score 1) 58

C'mon NASA...you know we really needed to cut funding for Space to help the peaceful mission in Ukraine.

Do you really expect us to worry or care about space at a time like this? Y'all should get your heads out of the clouds and pay more attention down here. NASA, didn't yall notice that we've got ourselves into a bit of an extreme proxy dust-up of freedom down here? That helping Ukraine carry on diplomatic missions with those Ruskies is what's costing us actual money here, it's also why we've had to cut back on your NASA wishbucks.

We've been a bit strapped for cash, so much so that we've had to resign ourselves with having to send Ukraine a somewhat dangerously low quantity of "safe-to-use" cluster bombs to help them with their ongoing attempts at diplomacy with Russia. Also NASA, don't be worried, for now at least, you will be receiving a somewhat limited, but usable amount of funding, which you can definitely thank us for. Because due to ongoing economic developments which have led to needing to clean out some of our old storage units to save us money as their rent requirements are no longer necessary that it just so happens it is also where we just happened to find what we will be sending to Ukraine next.

We've already started scrounging up old used Amazon shipping boxes from neighbors so we can box up all this old Vietnam era Napalm we found in those storage units and will be shipping to Ukraine so that it can help them gain an advantage in their peaceful diplomacy with Russia. Also do you know how much it costs to ship Napalm first class?! NASA should be grateful at whatever amount of funds they are able to get at this point. As a final thought, we may need to rethink future budgets again soon as more budgetary cuts may be inevitable. In clearing out those old storage units we were also able to find the White Phosphorus from the era of the Iraq war, so we'll need to calculate the cost of all the stamps that'll be needed to mail all this White Phosphorus out to Ukraine so we can continue supporting their ongoing peaceful diplomatic missions, and I could definitely see where that could have an impact on future budgetary funding.

The childish whines of threatening to cry to advertisers is so absolutely hilarious in it's level of retarded-ness and desperation in clinging on to some miniscule power trip . The whole reason to need a moderator is because the forum creator/owner/admin is not able to stay online 24/7 enforcing whatever arbitrary rules they just so happen to make up at whatever opportune time. So they pick a buddy or a few to enforce their made up rules whenever they aren't online to do so.

Yet these reddit forum moderators act like they deserve some special treatment and they actually believe that they deserve to be respected. These morons even have actually claimed it's a job. Ha!
The attitude of these mentally ill idiots is why they are the laughing stock of the entire reddit community as a whole.

The guy probably paid to keep his ratio artificially looking good on the site. Like most "pay" torrent sites have a way out if you wanna leech, but you still show a good ratio on the site to avoid bans as that is how many of these sites make money. By selling what they call "ratio fixers" just like "microtransactions". Which may be what that guy was doing. Copy and pasting from one example, one torrent site lists "ratio fixers" and are hilariously worded such as 'donate 10 for 20 gig upload' , 'donate 20 for 40 gig upload' , and so on. Which is even sadder if that is what the guy was doing.

I've got some younger family members who are addicted to using cellphone GPS to drive anywhere. I've rode with them and they would ask me for the address to where we are going to use their GPS, and I'd tell them I don't know the address but I can tell them where to go. I've often asked them why do they rely so much on their cellphone to drive somewhere, and I've gotten replies that driving without using their phones for navigation makes them nervous or they don't like the anxiety of not using GPS, or some similar response. I've warned them that relying on their phones so much can be dangerous. Personally I wish the cellular phone was only that, a phone, for making telephone calls. While I've never owned a cellphone, if they had stayed like they originally were then I'd probably buy one to throw in my vehicle's glove box for emergencies or whatnot. While the smartphone does impress me, I've just never liked the idea of combining everything but the kitchen sink into creating a super addictive "monolithic" device where the actual telephone part of the device is either rarely used or unwanted as many would rather text message instead of talk nowadays. At least that's the experience I've seen among my friends and family who always seemed glued to their screens all the time and occasionally seem to have withdrawals when the phone is charging, of course most the time they use a longer USB cable and stay glued to their "phones" while it's charging. Heck I've got my elaborate home network, server rack and all, along with 2 or 3 raspberry pi projects and I'm not even glued to that at least as much as some phone addicts I've seen. Maybe I can blame it on being an older Gen-X "slacker" with that mixture of cynicism/rebellious/suspicious nature which I got too much of, lol, or maybe I'm just a bit nutty about some things, but it does give me an ominous feeling that "smartphones" may have some bad side effects that we might not fully understand, but perhaps one day we will look back on it and realize it only in hindsight after the damage is done.

As far as GPS though, I own one of those Garmin GPS devices, and my ham radio has APRS and GPS if I wanted to use, plus I've dabbled with the little gps module you can get for raspberry pi so I'm not completely "out of touch" per se, I just don't want to depend on it for driving, but I do have fun geocaching occasionally. ;-)

I'm 47 and have never owned a cellphone and never had a want for one even though I've worked in datacenters since 95. My home phone is a landline. Its funny hearing the reactions of some companies that have claimed they need to text message me stuff. I've been told "you need to get a cell" many times, but I keep telling them I'm not interested in their service, that if they are too lazy to call my home phone and tell me what "they need to text" then cancel my service. Other than my ham radio the last time I ever owned something to receive mobile messages was back in early 90s up to around 1994 when I had a pager that also received email. ;-)

It was reported in recent years that China blew up a satellite with a ground missile that had horrible side effects causing collateral damage with other satellites. These things also have heat shields and exotic fuels. No telling what all have certain radioactive elements. Not to mention over 70 years of trash in orbit, from screws to shards of solar panel glass. All this mess raining down, and at the upper atmosphere of course the pieces will be bigger, then "suddenly disappear" as some burn up. And I bet various debris made out of old heat shield raining down probably looks really weird as it's odd shape will have it twisting and changing directions like crazy. At least that's the first thoughts I have.

Living on SSI income of just over 11K/yr I drive a 1995 Chevrolet S10 with the 5 speed manual tranny which I paid $700 for and still had to finance with a signature loan at the bank. Plus the electric bill where I'm at costs more than the rent so I try not to plug anything extra into an outlet, and I flip the breaker on the water heater leaving it off except for an hour or 2 before baths.

Sucks being poor.
