The fact that you WANT to run vi inside emacs automatically makes vi better! I just wonder why you want the stovetop, oven and kitchen sink included when all you really NEED is a blender.

If they were EMPLOYEE shares, then they weren't part of the IPO. FB can only sell shares still held by the company. Any shares granted to employees are theirs to do with as they please (as long as it doesn't violate any contractual agreements).

Already been passed over for management twice in the past five years at my current job... pretty sure that ain't going to happen here. Finding a management job elsewhere with nothing but senior level programmer/analyst roles hasn't been very successful so far either.

You ever hear of Logan's Run? It was wrong ... by 19 years. Sad to say, I've only got a few more months to go.

It turns out that people aren't willing to pay any extra for decaf compared to regular coffee. Since the decaffeination process itself adds cost, the only way to sell decaf for the same price as regular coffee is to use lower quality (cheaper) coffee beans. So now you're taking bad coffee, and making it worse. Aside from which, if you're producing coffee beans, why would you take the best you have and ruin it, when you could sell it as-is for a much higher price?

This is the exact reason I've heard from many different sources. If you were willing to pay 50% extra for decaf, then you could have primo beans, no caffeine and good-tasting coffee. Most people won't pay the extra, thus most decaf tastes like crap.

You must not be American ... we don't get extended holidays to wean ourselves from caffeine. My longest work break in 12+ years of IT has been 12 days that I spent between London and Paris. Getting 8 straight vacation days took quite a bit of negotiation.

That bill doesn't impact me; I'm salaried and already classified as Exempt. But I know a lot of hourly folks, both full-time (like help desk, etc.) and consultants that this would negatively impact.

Not according to some of the developers around here. Of course, these are the types that put "select * from table" into their Java code, then try to filter data in the application layer. Then they whine that their application is slow.

I use it on every system I work on... It's my standard editor on Windows XP (gvim anyway), Cygwin under WXP, Solaris, and Mac OSX. I don't use linux often any more, but it was my default editor then as well.

I've had co-workers laugh at me when I'm at the keyboard using an IDE and start typing jjjjjjjjjjjj.
