It should more accurately read, "Don't dismiss the idea of hiring folks with non-traditional paths to tech."

Or if you speak in ridiculous non-sense, "Don't (clap) dismiss (clap) the (clap) idea (clap) of (clap) hiring (clap) folks (clap) with (clap) non (clap) traditional (clap) paths (clap) to (clap) tech (clap)(coffee)(coffee)(beer)(coffee)(hundy)(pizza)(smiley)(dog)(kite)(music)(eyeroll)"

Wait. Disregard that last one. That was me.

Can't print modern documents? Why would that be, just out of curiosity?

Any time I've had compatibility issues with a printer my solution has been to run the job through a PDF creator and then print from Acrobat as an image. Haven't run into a printer yet that had an issue printing the raster graphics.

In my head 4000 series LJs are the 80's GM pickups of the printer world. Workhorses you never think about till the rare times they break, but when they do break they're so cheap and simple you can tear them down and rebuild them in a afternoon with your eyes closed for $20.

Uh-huh. Sure. That's why you're watching their every move. To catch them exceeding expectations.

Hubstaff may be doing well, but I bet Transcend is heading down the tubes. If you're micromanaging your staff to this degree then you're the one wasting time.

Word. People die. Sometimes it's surprising, but you just kind of shrug it off with a "c'est la vie" and go on about your business, because what else are you going to do?

This one hit me in the feels. I would not have thought so if you'd asked, but it did. Caught me completely off guard.

I am one who spends a great deal of energy attempting to avoid direct interaction with other carbon units. They're dumb, confusing, disgusting, selfish, and waste a tremendous amount of time on inanity.

Despite this I still find that I get a great deal more benefit from in-person conferences and meetings than online community. Something about people interacting facilitates the flow of information that would otherwise not. New ideas, deeper understanding of application of ideas, giving and receiving of assistance - these things aren't being consciously impeded in online communities but there's some element in personal presence that is so much more conducive to these and takes things to a new level not attained online. I dislike that it is true, but it is.

I suspect that the toxicity of the Internet has trained us all to be at yellow alert with shields up all the time and a lot of the social aspects of the Internet are centered on self-promotion. In person we have an innate sense of when we need to be on guard and spend most of our time chill and communicating freely, dedicating more of our mental resources on the subject at hand rather than focusing on personal security, and we spend less time promoting self and more on learning about and helping others, which ultimately betters ourselves and our own understanding.
