Now that I have a 2yr old of my own, I'll be teaching him that if anyone punches him in the shoulder and laughs his response should be to punch them square in the face. I'll deal with the teachers when I get called in. If they can't control their class room my kid will defend himself.

The government thought BP would fix it eventually and didn't want to get involved in the fix in case they screwed it up. I don't think they realized just how badly BP could screw it up. None of the damage has really been realized yet, but I think this will be the end of this administration. Their fault or not, the impact of this is going to make Katrina look like a strong breeze. The loss in tax revenue from all the failing coastal business's may even bankrupt the states.

My guess is that once we are able to properly explore other planets and moons it will be rare that we find one that doesn't have life of some source. Abundant life? Perhaps not. But my guess is that mars, Jupiter and just about every other planet will have at least some life deep in the bedrock or floating around in the atmosphere where its hard to find. Moons like our own might be dead, due to the complete lack of geologic activity and atmosphere. I think what scientists are looking for now is abundant life, like what we have here on earth. And in that, I think we'll need reactive materials in liqid and gas form like the oxygen and water earth has.

I was sick for 6 years. Every few months I got a little sicker. I kept going in... they flagged me as a Hypocondriac. It was suggested that I see a shrink. I kept getting sicker. They started intentionally performing unconfortable procedures on me like colonoscopys, prostate exams, pin prick exams, etc... to try and stop me from coming in. Finally my symptoms started to increase exponentially over a few weeks. My hands were shaking so violently that I couldn't type any more, my vision blurred. I felt like I was having a 24hr heart attack. I started googling things... went to the doctor and asked them to test my thyroid. They said they didn't think that was necessary. I DEMANDED IT. Finally they relented and tested me. I had graves disease. A few weeks later they irradiated my thyroid and put me replacement therapy. I was so sick for 6 years that it prevented me from going to college, from getting a promotion... it ruined countless familly vacations all because my health plan didnt bother to do a $30 blood test on me. The Drs can screw themselves. They don't care about you, me or anyone but themselves. I pay more for health insurance than I do for my Fing house, I'll demand any damned test I please. The director of patient relations at my NEW HMO (yes I switched) knows me by my first name. I have her desk phone now. I plan to be a problem patient for every doctor I ever meet.

I worked on a project to implament line of site microwave transceivers to deliver internet connections. People disconnected almost as fast as we could connect them. The primary problem is most people don't have line of site to anything. There are tree's buildings, all kinds of crap in the way. And this stuff changes all the time. New buildings go up, trees get taller, more power lines. You're constantly out re-aligning crap. Then you have heat gradients. Fog/smog/rain etc, have little effect on the microwave signal. But heat gradiants in the air create a prism like effect on the microwave signal. So if you have a sunny day where all the roadways heat up but the air a couple of hundred feat up is cool it will act like a lense and bend the microwave signal. This changes with how the heat is layered in the air column and there's nothing you can do about it. Line of site is impossible.
