As someone who writes analysis code for the readings collected by smart meters, do you know how easy it is to isolate unusual activity by studying the averages versus actuals on a system like this and then send a few men out to do an inspection in a specific area versus the fleet of vehicles needed (carbon footprint) to read all those meters?

And I'm not going to go into the privacy concerns cos smart meters only relay usage, they know nothing about their installed locations.

I think this is about pot myself.

idk, if this is coming from some place like Dell or HP, I might trust it, depends on the specs. HP does that for you if the server is rigged enough, their diagnostics put a full load on the CPU/RAM (and by inheritance, the rest of the basic subsystems that deal with CPU/RAM) but not the hard drives for up to 24 hours before shipping. On average it's 6-8 hours of dedicated testing.

So if it came completely prebuilt from a big shop, I would trust it...

Then you missed out on a lot of fun stuff. What was nice was setting up a productive city and letting it run till like 30000 years into the future, then wiping everything, plowing all the ground, dropping down for the water tables, making your own islands, setting up arcologies and just goofing off...

Which seems to imply a further dimension that we have no control of nor hope of obtaining, since we are bound to the dimensions in which we exist. Some (many?) would say that it points to the existence of a higher power (deity) and so it is an interesting thought experiment. Where would such event that was not subject to the laws of thermodynamics have its origin?
