You dumb fucking monkeys mod up a comment that's a deliberately diversion. We're talking about the popular vote, millions of people whose opinions should matter more than non-bound representatives. You're all for small government until it benefits you, then a fucked up system is just dandy and the only thing that matters.

Came here to say this. I wish I could filter out live/covers/remixes when searching for a song. That's not signal, that's noise. They have plenty of that nonsense on Spotify already and it's not exactly what I'd call a feature.

And I hope YouTube Music's AI is better than regular YouTube, I'm tired of playing one song by a band and then getting recommended other songs by the same band in my personal station, no matter how many times I skip over them when they pop up and they don't even include the one I manually searched for and played through.

Really? Higher priced vehicles with more engineering behind them are recommended more often? Whodathunkit? Care to provide any examples of the cars you were interested in for comparison? Note that not all their recommendations are luxury brands, Honda and Mazda frequently get high marks.

I signed up a couple of months ago on a discounted promotion. I received the card in the mail and went to use it the first time. I had already installed the app recently but it said I needed to update to the latest version. Google Play store says my phone is not supported by the new version of MoviePass, despite running Android Oreo. I happen to have an iPhone for work so I try that, nope, unauthorized device, whatever that means. I try their help and get no response for days. I can find no documentation on what unauthorized device means or how to fix the issue. Finally, MoviePass gets back to me and says the app was updated to remove the user tracking (which they assure me they never used anyway) but fail to address how I'm supposed to use the service or why my phone is no longer supported. I attempt to cancel my membership through the app but tapping that particular button is non-responsive. Finally, I just contest the charge with Amex. Thankfully they have robust protections. Fuck MoviePass.

Women swipe yes pretty indiscriminately as well, still resulting in more matches they can handle. Having been on Tinder dates, multiple women have admitted this to me.

Swiping also leads to people treating the whole thing like a game, how many matches can you collect? "Oh, look how many I have! What's your score?"

Matching and then opening communications with someone about a shared interest gleaned from what little there is in the profile still yields an extremely low response rate because so few are really trying to connect with anyone.

Comment Digital downloads are often included now (Score 1) 136

This isn't going to apply to all new releases but most of what I buy comes with a download link. I can buy the nice gatefold vinyl with all the cool artwork and it will have a download code inside so I can get my FLACs at no additional cost. It's the best of both worlds. CDs ordered through bandcamp often come with an immediate download link on purchase too. The included download may have been a large contributing factor to physical sales dominance.

Submission + - Score points by finding stolen cars, with the Automon app of the Dutch police. (telegraaf.nl)

mrwireless writes: Through their 'police of the future' innovation initiative, and inspired by Pokemon Go, the Dutch police is building an app where you can score points by photographing the license plates of stolen cars. When a car is reported stolen the app will notify people in the neighbourhood, and then the game is on!

Privacy activists are worried that this creates a whole new relationship with the police, as a deputization of citizens blurs boundaries, and institutionalizes 'coveillance' — citizens spying on citizens. It could be a slippery slope to situations that more resemble the Stase regime's, which famously used this form of neighborly surveillance as its preferred method of control.

That sounds great if you can find such an opportunity. I work for a large international high tech company that expressly forbids working from home. Sometimes managers will let it slide when roads are closed due to weather but that's rare. Every suburb I know is thoroughly congested, all those people are also trying to get to work. The only way to live somewhere without congestion is to be so far from the vast majority of jobs that all my colleagues that brag about their acreage and nature spend well over an hour driving to work and then just as much time driving home at the end of the day.

I've been using Lyft for a few years, never actually tried Uber. I didn't decide to stick with Lyft due to any controversies, all I had heard a few years ago was that Kalanick was your run-of-the-mill 'disruptive' startup egotist, not as severe as what he has turned out to be. I chose Lyft because I had heard the prices were better and it was more beneficial for the drivers. My experience has mostly been great, a few clueless or smelly drivers notwithstanding, so I've stuck with Lyft. The drivers I've asked either say they like both the same or prefer to drive just for Lyft. Either way, it's cheaper and more reliable than regular taxis. They've stepped up their game due to the competition but I've had some real winners in proper taxis over the years.
