Submission + - Facebook - "Wants under 13's to use Facebook" (dailymail.co.uk)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: The founder of Facebook says he will ‘fight’ to allow under-13s to use the social networking website – despite warnings it would put the most vulnerable children at risk.

At present, those under 13 are banned from Mark Zuckerberg’s site in Britain under a voluntary ‘good practice’ code.

In America the age limit, also of 13, is dictated by laws designed to protect young children, but Facebook’s 27-year-old billionaire creator believes the educational benefits of using the site mean the restrictions should be lifted.

Submission + - Better education from scientists 1

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: I know we have a section on education; however is it not worthwhile opening a section on Slashdot on Thesis?

Those people writing a dissertation for a Ph.D need Credit! Do you not agree that is would be incredibly interesting for dash slot to have a section like this beyond education so we can all learn idea's against convention of the normal idiot on the street?

Submission + - 150 year invention dies - The Typewriter (business-standard.com)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: "The Typewriter is dead. There is a sadness attached to the typex and those who remember burning the midnight oil typing away without typo's and the clack of each letter, number and symbol.

I have a typewriter, but what are you going to miss?

I suppose for those nostalgic people, there are things you do not miss, like a monitor and keyboard, with a typewriter you have them all rolled into one. The question is; Is this a sad day for writers?"

Submission + - Sony Play Station Data Theft (telegraph.co.uk)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Fraudsters have obtained data on millions of online video gamers – including three million Britons — after targeting Sony’s PlayStation Network.

The electronics giant is contacting around 70 million customers warning that details including their names, addresses, dates of birth, passwords and security questions have been stolen.

Does this surprise us /. users, probably not as this feud has been escalating over the past year and finally it is boiling over. The question is, will Sony compensate users?

Submission + - Is slashdot a bit addictive or nibble a bit?

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: "I have avoided Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and virtually everything over the years, but slashdot came before all these social networking sites.

Sometimes I find slashdot addictive and it goes through phases like a Blue Moon. Every now and again you get some really intelligent person that cannot be from planet Earth who is too smart for their own good; but makes a truly logical comment, makes me laugh and I am addicted again.

The question is simple how do you walk away? I know I am going to get some flack for this however your will brighten up my day!"

Submission + - Police demand new powers to stop and search (guardian.co.uk)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: According to the Guardian; Police are demanding new powers to stop and search suspected terror suspects. Just take one step back for a moment and analyse this. Do the Police not have enough power to arrest someone if they are a terror suspect? This has sparked a lively debate on Human Rights and your private parts being fondled.

Submission + - Assange's Defence (crikey.com.au)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Lost in bad reporting — Assange's lawyer speaks Sadly, there is a smear campaign against Assange and the balance needs to be reset. I do know Julian and he has always been a kind individual, but the way Palin and other politicians are speaking of him is totally disgraceful and utterly unfounded including "Conspiracy to committ Murder" of Assange.

Who is the guilty party here? Certainly not Assange. Wiki-Leaks have just provided a platform for open governments world-wide instead of secrecy and under-handed business deals and sponsorship of terrorism by the United States and other Countries to protect "vested" interests like oil.

The wikileaks insurance.aes file is exactly what it says. It will be more devasting than anything ever released, but it is getting closer.

I do not want to see 30 years on singing "Free Julian Assange" just like the world bonded together to free "Nelson Mandela" with concerts world-wide. Therefore, I vote Julian for a Nobel Peace Prize and if you do not agree, well that is your choice until you find out the truth. Hurts doesn't it? Not as much as the other releases are going to hurt. The truth hurts, but only for a short while. Enjoy George Orwell 1984 >>ffwd>>2011

Submission + - How do you relax?

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: I have been through hard times, however I can handle that as an Ex Royal Marine Commando (42 Bickliegh Devon). I was SFSG (Special Forces Support Group). Plus well trained indeed. I am not a push-over. It is just the basic things of life which are starting to get on my goat now, especially television advertisements and I need to relax a little but I cannot. I am just being honest here and was a Staff Seargeant, I cannot relax though and it is slowly killing me. I am either hyper at on stage or a complete miserable bastard.

Please do not say go see your doctor or friggin pyschaitrist or take pills as that does not work. I have been to combat stress to speak with some people http://www.combatstress.org.uk/ but that does not help and there are very few people who do not understand a damn thing. The MoD have failed me but I just want to relax and find it impossible,

I love /. so that is why I am asking here.... can some of you tell me how to switch off?

Submission + - Facebook murderer/social network warning (sky.com)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Once again, we see another Murder and Rape after meeting on a social networking site, namely facebook. This guy could have killed more people, but he has only admitted to one, the investigation continues.

As a /. user I am highly dismayed that people need to use Social Networking sites. It is far easier to meet real people and not FAKE people who subscribe to this crap to get publicity and gain online friends. Is it just me being old school or do other people feel the same way?

Submission + - Dr David Kelly - the verdict is still open (infoaction.org.uk)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: This is NOT going to go away. Dr David Kelly was murdered and the evidence suggests so http://dhalpin.infoaction.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=78&Itemid=2 It is clear evidence has been left out and there has been cover ups regarding forensic evidence. Hopefully if you read this report for yourself, you will truly get a better idea of what is MISSING in the evidence and make up your own mind,

There is no way Mr Kelly would have committed suicide. Comments welcome please!

Submission + - Save the BBC (Murdoch) The Empire Strikes Back (avaaz.org)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: What can I say; The BBC is considering sweeping cuts, cutting its website in half and dropping TV and radio stations. The reason: to enrich corporate media. According to a story in the Times, the proposal is a bid to "shrink" in order to "appease the BBC's rivals." If this goes forward, it's a giveaway to Rupert Murdoch, who sees the BBC as a threat to his profits.

The BBC is a global treasure. Public outcry has prevented BBC cuts before, now we can save it again! Sign the petition and pass it along — let's get to 100,000 signatures before we deliver it to the BBC Trust later this week, so they know the UK, and the world, want the Beeb to stand strong:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets give Murdoch a kick in the booty that he deserves. http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_bbc/?vl — petition
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The BBC isn't perfect, but the people pushing for these cuts want to destroy it, not to improve it. The Times, owned by media baron Rupert Murdoch, responded by calling for further cuts such as closing Radio 1. Last autumn, Rupert's son James Murdoch gave a speech calling for the BBC to be forced to become "far, far smaller".

Come on Ladies and Gentlemen, Home Boyz and Fly Girlz we cannot let this happen.

Today's cuts are proposed in a "strategic review" written by John Tate — co-author of the Conservative Party's manifesto, and now a BBC executive. If the goal is to reduce competition to corporate media outfits, this may just be the beginning.

Murdoch — the global media magnate — has long seen the BBC as his biggest rival, and his media outlets have assaulted the Labor government. Now, with the recession hurting profits and a UK election coming soon, he and his allies are on the attack.

We need greater investment in quality and originality by the BBC, not death by a thousand cuts. Let's raise all our voices to protect the Beeb, and deliver an overwhelming number of signatures to the BBC Trust this week — sign and spread the word to everyone:

Submission + - MMR doctors to be struck off (itn.co.uk)

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Fears over the MMR vaccine and it's links to causing Austism are still quite real Dr Wakefield and colleagues professors John Walker-Smith and Simon Murch could be struck off the medical register.

I know of problems in the United States where a friend in Missouri has Autistic children after injections and mercury poisoning with the very same injections. These professors are about to be struck off. What for? being honest about the risks.

Submission + - Ancient Egyption Book of the Dead (wikipedia.org) 1

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: As some of you may know I have been reading the first editions of the Book of the Dead, by E. A Wallis Budge M.A LittD., D.LIT " Keeper of the Egyption and Assyrian Antiquities in the British Museum"

These are rare books indeed and it has been a very challenging read, including the heiroglyphics and decifering what is mean't. Therefore I would like to give you another scope on what I have learned.

You can find some data here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_the_Dead but it is not comprehensive enough. My take on matters is in tune with wikipedia, but having read all of the original books, I ended up did quite sick, but as a carried on reading I felt better there were verses that made me feel better.

I am therefore convinced there is a curse and the knowledge contained within also has healing properties. Everything that is written in the Bible is all from the book of the dead and most religions worldwide including the Q'ran or Quran however you wish to spell it all stem from the book of the dead.

What I found interesting were references to UFO's and people landing on Earth from the Big Dipper star system near Orion's belt and a great war which occured a long time ago. Technology was given as trust although some scientists will totally disagree with my point of view. I am just giving you my take on matters the way I understand things.

The heiroglyphics depict cats and massive healing properties when they sit on you and purr away as a cure for cancer. It also says, that cancer is caused by sonic waves whereby an organ is not in sychronisation with everything else physically. It says, therefore there is a hidden force to destroy, what is not in sync and therefore creates cancer as a way of destroying the offending body part and that is all cancer is.

It has been a very interesting indeed, There is talk of sickness and health. What is important is to always be compassionate and be loveable and you can do or be anything you like. There is a damnedness of hatred which means you will forever be a "Skin Walker" Red Indian beliefs. Now if you can get your hands on the books or read them in the library, your life will never be the same again.

I sincerely feel those that are interested in the book of the dead can read them at a main library. Nu :)
Try and get some arabic language skills, but the heiroglyphics tell a different story.

Submission + - Toshiba's legal spyware! (toshiba-europe.com) 1

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Tonight a friend brought around his Toshiba Laptop complaining he was getting pop ups and unwanted issues regarding his internet browsing. I have been battling to uninstall all of this crap for the past 4 hours and it still does not want to remove itself despite every trick in the book to remove this damn phorming malware that is embedded in the chip. There is little I can do, As I write this, I am trying to clean the machine to the best of my ability.

Now it turns out having gone through all the "small print" "Terms and Conditions" when you buy a Toshiba Laptop, you are automatically "opted in". Is this just me being paranoid or is this a new way by advertisers to circumvent a loophole in the law, which strictly speaking means; if you want to buy a product based on it's quality, you are stuck with spyware in chips?

Submission + - Beating Swine Flu the Natural Way!

NSN A392-99-964-5927 writes: Having been through the H1N1 once and had it migrate again almost destroying my lungs. I still remain standing. Yes it was ruthless, however I drank 2 pints of tomato juice per day and the juice of seven fresh lemons per day mixed with garlic.

Now I did not take any prescribed drugs, that the British Government wants you to take. Sorry last time in Iraq I took the VX nerve agent so I am very suspicious of anything as it has lasting affects like Gulf War syndrome, not to mention all the other lies.

The best thing you can do in order to combat this is do what I said. Be brave people and you will with Darwin's Theory of "Evolution", Naturally kick this H1N1 into touch.

As always Mother Nature gives us all the answers.

Regards,
NSN
