Sounds about right. I went into BestBuy for a long CAT5 cable (I needed it that day). I looked around for a bit and they didn't have anything longer than 12ft. I needed about 50ft. The salesperson there told me "They don't make cables that long, the signal gets poor above 12 ft." Being a network admin and knowing the truth I continued on and asked him for a solution. He took a couple of the 12 ft cables + some CAT5 extenders (just cable extenders) and he assured me that they "bumped up" the signal to go the extra distance. The price for everything was about 4X more than I was willing to spend (imagine that!). I drove back to my home in the next town over and made the cable myself. I do not buy anything there anymore. Buyer beware!

Technically Uranium *could* get them off planet. Extensive research was done by both the USSR and USA on nuclear propulsion drives. That being said, it probably wouldn't be ideal due to contamination. It probably wouldn't do to spread fallout over a planet we will likely colonize one day (if we don't wipe ourselves out first). Will you guys please stop the "then don't buy it" bullshit? This is a discussion, not eBay.

My point is valid. If you are concerned about not having an ear free to listen to what is going on around you, DON'T BUY THE HEADPHONES THAT REQUIRE BOTH EARS TO BE LISTENING. Seems pretty common sense. Am I missing something? There are definitely other (cheaper) options out there. You have the normal ear buds, the single earbud (saw this at Radio Shack awhile back for about $4 USD) as well as hundreds of other options I'm not going to spend the time to document.

Point being, what's the point? All things being equal, these ear buds are less flexible than normal headphones and will probably be significantly more expensive. Is this an answer in search of a problem?

My thoughts exactly. I don't need my headphones to try to figure out what I'm doing, I often don't know myself. Besides, I long ago switched to bluetooth stereo headphones (with a play and pause button on the side).

SD (that's 480p?) no problem, HD I've had problems with. I have a video (no name or copyright lawsuit) which is 1080 (p or i, can't remember). It was downloaded to my netbook. The video became horribly detached from the audio by at least 4-10 seconds (even at 1:30 into the video). I couldn't tell you the encoding to save my life, but not really pertinent since I've played just about every codec out there at SD resolutions just fine. I'll test out a couple of known files at different quality levels and then comment at this thread.

I understand what you are saying, but I think you are missing my point. Without the (end) user base, which is using x86 and x64 programs... It will not gain support. Windows is what a majority of users use whether we like it or not. If Windows doesn't run on it, how will it get market share? We've already found through Dell's efforts (among others) that Ubuntu doesn't work out when users are expecting the same ole desktop they've always had.

So? There are 4.6 billion tonnes of natural uranium dissolved in the sea.

There you have it. NATURAL uranium isn't the same as "unspecified" nuclear toxic waste. The waste could even be enriched! We don't know what it's dissipation rate is in salt or any other kind of water. It's also important to note this was within the Mediterranean Sea, not in the much larger Atlantic Ocean. To the best of my knowledge, it's got only a few outlets to the ocean... It would take a bit longer for it to dissipate.
