Yep uPlay killed any enthusiasm I had for their games, same with Origin. I haven't bought an Ubisoft game since Raving Rabbids for the Wii. I refunded the Mass Effect Remaster as well after foolishly not checking to see if it was an Origin game (It requires the 'lite' client). Fuck all that shit. I vote with my wallet.

I hear you. If it makes you feel better, we're not all batshit mad like that orange poster above. My wife and I spend an inordinate amount of time colouring with our child, and yes we go outside more or less every day even if it's raining. Guess how much watching your child smash puddles into orbit costs? This idea that we need to subscribe to everything, that everything is a fucking service, that it is normal to rent and not own is so insane. I can't fathom why people have allowed this to become normal. I find it hard to communicate this even to my wife, that what we buy - cars, house, furniture, electronic goods, etc. Should be ours forever, should be paid off, should not need to be constantly topped up.

when these muppets get closer to retirement and have nothing to show for it? Are they still going to blame boomers for all their ills, or will they accept that they were the fucking idiots all along? People over here are falling over themselves to buy houses at ridiculously inflated prices, with mortgages they can barely afford (at interest rates not even at historic highs). Why? Just why?

The site got bought and sold a few times, and the quality of content took a dive. Mind you, the quality of all internet content has taken a dive. Even the game related discord channels I partake in are mostly filled with idiotic memes and other useless crap, instead of discussion about game mechanics. Slashdot comments these days seem to be filled with the same bots starting the same unrelated political flame wars over and over again. A bit funny since this is also off-topic, but it's still less stupid than the average comment one finds here these days.

It'll work. It shouldn't, because what Unity did was evil, but it will. Hell, even that death threat apparently came from an employee who posted it on social media. They're fucking gross all the way down, and I am glad that I now have a legit reason to recommend against using them over upgrading our in house engine where I currently work.

Don't let your logic get in the way of the usual stupidity in the comments section. "Parents should have to watch their kids!!" No fucking shit. The point of the law was to require parents to set these accounts up. Also why is it not understood yet that the awful content on social media sites is encouraged by the structure of the sites themselves? There's no safe way to engage with social media as a child, hell even as adults it's easy to get suckered in.
