The Flat Earthers Are Still With Us 578

narcberry writes "The BBC reports on a scientific community still holding to flat earth theories. From their article: 'Are there any genuine flat-earthers left? Surely in our era of space exploration — where satellites take photos of our blue and clearly globular planet from space, and robots send back info about soil and water from Mars — no one can seriously still believe that the Earth is flat? Wrong. Flat earth theory is still around. On the internet and in small meeting rooms in Britain and the US, flat earth believers get together to challenge the 'conspiracy' that the Earth is round.'"

Does Anonymity In Virtual Worlds Breed Terrorism? 295

An Anonymous Coward writes "The Washington Post has an article about the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity's take on the numerous virtual worlds (e.g. Second Life) that have cropped up in recent years. IARPA's thesis is that because the Government can't currently monitor all the communication and interaction, terrorists will plot and scheme in such environments."

Is Windows Vista in Trouble? 879

Ken Erfourth writes "The Inquirer.net is running a story about what they consider two powerful indications that Vista is failing in the marketplace. One, Dell has reintroduced PCs running Windows XP on its website due to customer demand. Two, Microsoft is conducting a worldwide firesale on a bundle of Microsoft Office 2007/WindowsXP Starter Edition. According to Inquirer.net, at least, these are signs of serious problems selling Vista. Are we seeing the stumbling of the Microsoft Juggernaught with the slow adoption of Windows Vista?"

Long Dev Time Equals Better Game? 88

Via a GameSetWatch post, a piece on Treyarch Producer Stuart Roch's blog. He discusses the long development time of Shadow of the Colossus, and what four years of work did for that title. From the article: "Granted, it's a bit of a stretch to make a simple correlation between more development time and higher quality product based on this tiny product sample, but I have to admit, there is certain attractiveness to the argument. Can it be that in a given number of development cycles, those that had more time with less resources would create better games than those that had short dev cycles with monster teams? One might think that having more time would allow for more polish and iteration and therefore yield higher quality product, but as I'm sure you're thinking, examples can be made of both good and bad games that were in production for long periods of time."

Journal Journal: I've been had.

Applejacks apparently had this scheme in mind all along.... if it wasn't for those medling kids.

anyways, I'm using the journal now to keep a public profile of my life. It should be brief and confusing, but I'll try and make it intresting.

Today, not a bad day, not a great day. started a logo for a client. prolly sucks, but I'm happy with it's result as of now. I'll post it when it's a little further along.

Bored most of the day, not much more to say.

Journal Journal: It's over....

My ploy to put:
CHANGE THE WORLD! VOTE: YES! Change my applejacks!
in my Sig seems to have helped. Applejacks (which is made of apples BTW), has stopped their absurd marketing ploy of feigned ignorance about kids need for applejacks to not use apples.

Success for people with atleast half a brain.
