Comment Mix of Good and Bad (Score 1) 2254

Good: Clean layout, runs smoothly on Chrome, and nice new icons The Bad: Too much white space (articles are white against a white background), very laggy on Firefox, and don't like the locked bars (on the side and top) It is a good effort, but as with all new website layouts, there are bugs to work out. I'll stay tuned and see what happens.

Indeed, correlation does not imply causation. People with those beliefs may watch Fox News, but as for the misinformation part being Fox News' fault, it is too overreaching of an accusation. With the likely possibility that many of those misinformed folks were misinformed via word of mouth, radio and internet, you would have a difficult time placing sole blame since there are so many outside factors.

I'm a bit confused by the wording of the ruling, does this apply to goods purchased online via a company outside of the country and shipped to me? For example, if I purchase a video games and/or consoles from a source outside my own country/region, does this mean I won't be able to sell these items at some later date if I so desire?

Submission + - Moscow's bid to blow up Wikileaks (thedailybeast.com) 1

mark72005 writes: National-security officials say that the National Security Agency, the U.S. government's eavesdropping agency, has already picked up tell-tale electronic evidence that WikiLeaks is under close surveillance by the Russian FSB, that country's domestic spy network, out of fear in Moscow that WikiLeaks is prepared to release damaging personal information about Kremlin leaders. "We may not have been able to stop WikiLeaks so far, and it's been frustrating," a U.S. law-enforcement official tells The Daily Beast. "The Russians play by different rules."

I couldn't agree more with you GNUALMAFUERTE. At first I felt sympathy for the professor, but when he stated the answers were from a bank, he lost my sympathy. Honestly, how lazy a professor are you to rely on a question bank for an exam? I mostly feel sorry for those students who didn't cheat, especially those that did well. If in their position, I would likely fight it with the dean and not stop until they give me my rightful grade.

Submission + - Astronomers Find Weird, Warm Spot on Exoplanet (spacefellowship.com)

SGDK664 writes: Observations from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope reveal a distant planet with a warm spot in the wrong place. Using Spitzer, an infrared observatory, astronomers found that upsilon Andromedae b's hot spot is offset by a whopping 80 degrees. Basically, the hot spot is over to the side of the planet instead of directly under the glare of the sun. "We really didn't expect to find a hot spot with such a large offset," said Ian Crossfield, lead author of a new paper about the discovery appearing in an upcoming issue of Astrophysical Journal. "It's clear that we understand even less about the atmospheric energetics of hot Jupiters than we thought we did."

The students will be forbidden from using Twitter,Facebook, instant messaging and any other online communication except for e-mail. University Provost Eric Darr chose to enact the temporary ban because he wants students to think about how much they're using technology in their daily lives and what kind of impact it has.

Submission + - Firm can't fire man for 1.8 cent theft (yahoo.com)

An anonymous reader writes: BERLIN (Reuters) A German company that fired a man for the theft of 1.8 euro cents (two U.S. cents) worth of electricity had no grounds for sacking him, a court ruled, dismissing the firm's appeal against his reinstatement.

Network administrator Oliver Beel lost his job after charging his Segway, a two-wheeled electric vehicle, at work in May 2009. After he connected the vehicle to the firm's power source for 1-1/2 hours, his boss asked him to remove it.

Twelve days later Beel found himself without a job.
