Did someone say cheaper phone calls??
Yes, cheaper phone calls are why they're doing this. And with all that extra money you'll save, I have this great bridge in Brooklyn you should really check out.

You think child porn is protected by freedom of expression?
Tell me, whose freedom are you thinking should be protected? The adult or the child? Is it OK if the adult's freedoms infringe on those of the child?
You're protecting the freedom of the poor bastard who downloaded it by mistake and didn't nuke his hard drive from orbit.
Why not support both HTML5 AND flash?
HTML5 may be the future, but Flash is still what is in use today.
That's not the way Apple works. It adopted USB when there was exactly ONE USB printer on the market. It dropped floppies while they were still in common usage. It's been pushing FireWire when nobody else is.
Apple decides when to deprecate technology on their own devices. If you don't like it, buy something else.
Tacky that his first point is that Flash is proprietary, when Apple restricts the apps that can be installed on the phone. Pot, meet kettle.
That's kind of the whole point. Jobs admits that Apple has a closed system, when Adobe is claiming theirs is open. When he talks about open, he's referring to HTML5/CSS/JavaScript, which you DO NOT need to submit to the app store.
I think this is another case where the media turn something that might be good: increased understanding of how obesity works, into something bad: telling obese people that they have no control over their behaviour, fueling the "it's no my fault, I have a serious illness" justification for doing nothing to help themselves.
Isn't "not my fault, I have a serious illness" the first of the 12 Steps?
"no intelligent businessman would operate such a money-losing enterprise"
I wouldn't call a $1 Billion profit a loss...
It's profitable NOW - hence UPS, FedEx, etc. It wasn't in 1789.
You can not have a right to something that is non-free.
Tell that to the NRA.
The Federal Government on the other hand has more at stake with regards to the welfare of society and making sure that interstate commerce is working smoothly. There are certain jobs that only the government can do well, and there are many others that the government should have absolutely no role in.
Amen. This is why the Federal Government is mandated to run the Post Office. At the dawn of the Republic, no intelligent businessman would operate such a money-losing enterprise. However, it is a necessary and needed service.
Rural electrification and rural broadband, in my opinion, also merit Government intervention.
No man is an island if he's on at least one mailing list.
