This is a tired old generalisation trotted out by IT people every time the topic of MS Office comes up.

There is no such thing as a typical Office user, as it is a Swiss Army knife that does a lot of different things for different people. A standard tool has immense value in business though, which is why everyone keeps paying for it.

Liquefied air storage is "efficient" because the discharge cycle uses ambient heat for vaporisation, which doesn't get considered in the electrical efficiency calculation. It isn't efficient in a closed (adiabatic) cycle, but the temperatures are such that ambient temperatures are always sufficient possible to vaporise air.

This is similar to how wind turbine and solar PV efficiency cannot exceed 40%; people don't care because the other energy doesn't count per se.

Anyone in Australia buying an EV already has solar panels. Peak loads on the grid are summer during the afternoon once solar drops off but temperatures are still high. Taking public transport to work is common, so plenty of EV's sit in the garage during the day.
