No one uses furlongs. Inches, feet, yards, and miles. Crap - there's probably not more than 1 in 1000 Americans who knows what a furlong is. Most will start fishing in their pants, wondering what the "fur" is all about.

A furlong is 1/8 of a mile and is commonly used at horse racing tracks in the US. There are 5280 feet in one mile that means there are 660 feet in 1 furlong. Anyone that bets on horses knows this and that is quite a few. Now everyone or nearly so knows that the Metric System is a much better system but the question as to why we stubborn Americans don't use it is quite simple. It has nothing to do with economics, we simply do not want to nothing more to it than that.

I personally don't give two sh*ts which system is used. Most everything has both measurements on the packaging. The auto industry has already converted to the metric system and so too has the military have been for decades. The only thing I would like to see happen is the use of the 24 hour clock most commonly known as military time amongst the uninformed.

Because it would further perpetuate the irrational fear of GMO's and could feasibly cause more people who would otherwise be blissfully ignorant to not buy the GMO's. If enough people with the irrational fear of GMO's don't buy them the producers of said GMO's lose money and possible GMO's go the way of the Twinkies. Granted it would be a long shot but the short answer is money.

Anyone that says it authorizes the detention of American Citizens is either an ignorant buffoon and/or a liar.

The NDAA does not alter existing law in that respect. But does the AUMF permit indefinite detention of American citizens?

It does not, it is merely a resolution that falls short of an actual declaration of war. Which hasn't occurred since WW II. In order for the indefinite detention of American Citizens without charge to occur the Writ of Habeas Corpus must be specifically suspended by Congress as require by Article I Section 9 of the Constitution. What it does do is open the door for the President to invade countries like Iran merely on the premise of Terrorism. We all know that one is coming.

All true but under Technocracy the only people in the positions of power are those that actually qualify for the position and are put there by the people qualified to make the decision of who is qualified.
