Comment Re:Just set it to clock speed (Score 1) 400

In addition to what Rockoon said, you are ignoring some stark facts, for instance, in California, the speed limit is (supposed to be!) based upon the "85% rule". This means that 15 percent of drivers are automatically speeding, and nothing about safety goes into that calculation! Wait a minute... Have you ever actually driven a car???

The idiot in this story is the owner of the gun: he or she has left the premises. There are no trained persons present. Obviously, before leaving the premises, the owner of the gun should unload it and secure it from from the untrained personnel. The owner should have to pay damages to the baby sitter for emotional distress.

Breeder reactors!

They are our only hope to escape the fossile fuel cartel's death march. Death, by the way, not from climate change, but instead, and unlike climate change, this is 100% certain, death from the squeeze that will happen as fossil fuels get more and more expensive, combined with the fact that by the time that stupid humans wake up and realize the truth of that trend, there will no longer be a sufficient energy surplus to operate the fossil fuel machine and, at the same time, build its replacement. Oh well. The few people that survive the cataclysm will be much wiser than us.

Comment Easy Fix! (Score 1) 482

The feds start building and operating breeder reactors everywhere via a new branch of the Dept. of Defense. No complaining about the locations because if you do, you are supporting the terrorists. (By terrorists of course I mean the fossil fuel cartel.) Pretty soon electrical power will be too cheap to meter, and then we can get busy building an all new transportation infrastructure that runs on electricity.

Comment Re:Solution that can make all sides happy (Score 1) 416

Over the fossil fuel cartel's dead bodies. If you think this would ever happen without a complete rearrangement of our existing power structures, you are very naive. No sir, we are going to continue to burn fossil fuels until they get scarce enough to cause mass starvation and war. The planet will be depopulated to about 10 or less percent of current levels, and *maybe* then we'll learn something.
