You install the app with the "Market". So they can monitor what do you have (same way they can offer you updates). They flag it to remove and it gets removed.

Can Apple do the same? Yes!

What is the difference here?
Well, I can go to the website, get the .apk file from this malicious file and install it. Then, they cannot remove it (of course, they will not offer updates) and you just keep going.

Not saying if Google did wrong or not, just telling you there is an option there which you don't have on the iPhone.

Death by overwork happens in first world countries.

In Japan, they will have to pay a lot of money because of this, but then again, a life was lost because of overwork.

There are other similar to this. Like everyone said, this is work related.

Japanese suicide rate is 24.4%, 5th in the world, 1st on "industrialized" countries (read as "first world countries").

It is a shame. Besides here in Japan is so common. I have been stuck in the train because someone jumped and have been once in the train that actually ran over someone who jumped and I have been only here for just a bit more than a year.

At least here in Japan the laws are trying to change this and reduce the amount of hours required to work (8 hours is always 12 hours in here) for any average job.

I am a PHP Developer and you are right, when I was checking Rails it was really awesome.

Then I discovered http://www.symfony-project.org/ and it was amazing, give it a try, you will also see how much low level work is eliminated entirely. Their documentation and tutorial is awesome too.

I used to work with Zend Framework but now it looks complex and slow compared to Symfony. Of course as most programming discussions, it is a matter of preference. Pretty sure someone is going to come here and say Zend Framework is the best and symfony is crap :)

The only bad thing about steam is that my current ISP which is shared, they throttle all traffic but HTTP/HTTPS so if I buy a game, I will download around 100kb/s if everything is fine. On the other hand, my http downloads are in the 6000-8000kb/s range.
I know they are throttling because people just leave the torrents and sharing programs all die and the network as unbearable.

If Steam allowed to use port 80 or 443 to get their games, I will go back and keep buying from them but they don't want to do this for some reason. But I don't suffer you see, I just get my games from local stores, prices vary.

Exactly.
Mobile Companies will always look at their interest which is "making money".

That is why the other mobile company is going to exploit a loop in the law where it says that Private Companies offering Mobile Communications can't stop giving service.
Of course this law was made so if for some reason they go on strike then the service should keep going. This actually happened many years ago with Telmex where the military had to take the building and operate the local phone service as the union went on strike.

So, in short, they will risk it and eat the fines because even like that, they know with that loop in the law they can pay less than the actual fine and also the money they will lose by cutting off so many of their users doesn't compare on the fine amount.

I have to do the same in Japan (where I am a foreigner), they ask you for the Alien Registration Card to get almost any service, Japanese citizens don't have an ID (yet) but the Driver's License, and of course only if you need it.

The only nuisance for me is that even if the Alien Registration Card is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, many places (mobile companies) ask you for an "ID emitted by the government", strange isn't it?
So you require to have another paper or guess what? They prefer the national insurance card (no picture, paper made) than the Alien card (picture, holograms, visa status, etc.), go figure.

It is like people using a software version 0.3 for example, they automatically say "Oh, it is not mature, lets wait for version 1.0". So if they grab the same product but label it as 1.0, wow, suddenly everyone approves.

I mean, when was the last time you got the "final" Windows version and realized you need patches and service packs? :)

People saying "yeah, I block them but let the good sites to show me the ads" is probably from the same ones saying "I download music from torrents but if I like them, then I buy them".
People saying "I don't trust any script from ads because they will hack my computer" is probably the same ones saying "I don't buy music from the RIAA because they are evil" or "If they didn't have DRM"

If you think ads from Ars are bad, don't visit them or send them an e-mail.
And don't come with the "They should change the business model", well maybe they need to but it is not that easy and come on, if they charge $2 dollars/month for a subscriptions everyone will whine and say "no no no, I can get all the content free on the Internet or other website", then, if that is the answer, GO to the other sites already.
