No, it isn't. I'm sure Adobe's cubicle programmers fixed the bug just as quickly, its just they have a few more procedures and a shit ton more testing to go through before they can release it.

If you're happy to use someone elses hack to fix your software, thats fine...but most organisations require a bit more assurance and accountability.

Forget about Big Brother listening, it would be far worse if the ghosts that haunt the moon where to be able to listen to your Skype conversations. Luckily moon ghosts are not tecnologically advanced enough to use Skype, and even if they where, when they put the microphone headsets on they would just fall through their spectral heads, onto the floor. Also the moons atmosphere would prohibit the transmission of sound. Even so, I think it is something we should all bare in mind.

Although you are correct that the extent of arctic ice has been understated, this does not in any way suggest that the moon *is not* haunted - in fact current evidence suggests that moon ghosts wander the planet's surface both day and night.

Nor, as you suggest, is the moon too cold. Ghosts do not have a physical presence, so the temperature of the moon would mean nothing to them.

Not only that, but there confidence about the Moon being haunted is also zero - we just don't know. Bringing this together presents us with a nightmarish situation; one where both the possibilty that the Moon is haunted, and that the God particle exists, are unknown, yet related by the fact that LHC technology will soon be in place on the moon, where it could fall into the hands of the ghosts that (potentially) ahunt the surface of the moon. Ghosts simply don't understand modern technology, but there inquisitive minds would lead them to push all the buttons and pull the levers on the LHC, with potentially catastrophic consequences.

This article, and the research it talks about, is nothing but bad science. Computer models? Tree rings? Proxy indicators? This isn't the internet we're talking about, people, its the climate. IE the temperature. And how do you measure temperature? Well, I use a thermometer, why can't these people?

We all know that, over time, layers of sediment build up, and so, by digging into the ground you are seeing the earth as it was some time ago - so why don't the scientists just use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the soil at different depths?

Comment Haunted Moon: Linux or Windows? (Score -1, Offtopic) 249

After further research, I have my doubts that the moon is haunted. It *is* a planet, floating in space, which would suggest that, like other planets, the moon *is* haunted, but I have not yet seen any direct evidence, like footprints or things that have been knocked over.

However, I am very interested in writing software to help the scientists of earth to find out, once and for all, wether the moon is haunted, and what kind of ghosts are likely to live there. What platform would be best for this? Windows seems like the best choice, especially what with Windows 7 coming out, but I believe that such an easy to use operating system could be used for evil where it to fall into the hands of moon ghosts. Linux looks appalling in all of its forms, so it is less likely that the inquisitive mind of moon ghost's would be tempted to tamper, and also because it is so hard to use, moon ghosts would probably give up using it before any evil acts could be performed. Unfortunately, there is not so much ghost/haunting detection software available for Linux. What do the users of Slashdot think?

This is ridiculous, that so many lawyers are taking top justice posts when they should be legislating against the illegal research that is being carried out on the Moon. Right now experiments using space-technology are taking place on the moon, a haunted planet, inhabited by space-ghosts. When it gets dark and the scientists and technicians go home at night, the moon ghosts begin to haunt the labs, tampering which technology they cannot comprehend.
