I thought IBM has switched but not all at once. Seems I read that they are switching as need be and keeping Windows systems for specific tasks. Lets say they are skipping instaed of jumping.

Have you ever tried to get the average user to install XP or Vista. Can you say disaster. With most Linux distros the install is considerably easier and finished. There is no need to install a fistful of third party drivers and applications to finish the deal. Recently tried to help a friend over the phone install on an old HP. Got the OS on but getting the drivers loaded was a complete failure.

I'll be 57 when I retire from my current position and then plan to return to school and get my CS degree. Just for fun, you know .

I'm also trying this with someone at work but with a little twist. I changed the session to fluxbox and edited the menu to only the basic and simplest of applications. With each menu item is a description of the app,( Pidgin Instant Messaging , Brasero CD Burning ). Haven't had much feedback but this may be an indication that all is well and easily understood. At least this is what I'm hoping for.
