Forgive me for not reading your other post, but if the argument in it is that facebook did opensource their php-to-c compiler, then i know about it. The point was why would a company that provides a certain service open source the platform they provide their service on, if what really matters to others are the APIs rather than the platform itself. The only people that would benefit from the platform being open sourced are the competitors. No sane businessman would want to feed his competitors at the cost of his profits.

But that's not the problem of the OS, it's a problem of the RISC platforms, since the OS was identical on x86 as well as on RISC platforms, if the apps were mostly made for x86 it shows that RISC wasn't as superior as the OP claims.

German Copyright Group To Collect From Creative Commons Event 349

bs0d3 writes "In Leipzig, Germany, an 8 hour music/dance party event was organized to play nothing but creative commons music the entire time. A German copyright group called GEMA told the organizers that to be certain that no rights were infringed, it would need a list of all artists including their full names, place of residency and date of birth. After the event GEMA sent an invoice for 200 euros. They claim that behind pseudonyms some of their artists may be hidden and produce things that they would not earn anything from. According to German law, you are required to prove that an artist is not with GEMA. So even though GEMA probably does not have rights to any of the music, they are not required to prove that they do."

No point in ranting about this anymore though, since Jobs is dead now. I'm surprised though: so many people think their ideas should only be theirs and yet nobody seems to be lobbying for idea patents. I'm sure corporations could really stiffle innovation if they lobbied for a more relaxed patent system that allows one to patent an idea without implementing it.

The viewpoint is a part of gameplay. BTW, in this particular game the viewpoint isn't the only thing that's different from modern first person rpgs. Watch a video of the gameplay on youtube for example. It has a distinct feel of dungeon crawlers of the past while still being visually appealing to the audiences of today.
