Comment Re:Interesting ways of benchmarking (Score 1) 298

So it's a benchmark on different hardware that happen to use the same nvidia card (but different motherboard and CPU), and different versions of the compiler, which are known to have performance differences. Way to go.

Looking at the posted specs its looks like the same cpu (AMD Phenom II X3 710) for all tests - on a different motherboard though - wonder why...

Extra Credit is a great show about games and their development. I'm into game development myself and please, everyone who is too do as I - watch their shows. Think about what they have to say.

They also got a video about microtransactions and one about the skinner box. They don't talk about moral though. So here for those interested in the topic but to lazy to RTFA. Its a video, just lean back and watch. Kinda entertaining as well.

Their video's are currently hard to find because they got apart from their old home "the escapist" and the videos there all just 404.

AGPL 3

Probably the most important implication of AGPL is that it requires you to provide a way for your users to download the sources of the application. In fact Opa facilitates that by automatically enriching the server (in release mode) to serve the source code of the application at a special /_internal_/src_code URL.

But this is not the end of the story. We believe in free software (hence the AGPL license) but we also understand that it may not be very suitable for commercial users of Opa. Such users will be able to obtain a private license (paid). This will allow them to keep their sources closed if they wish to do so and will provide us with funds to further develop and improve Opa — win-win situation :). If you are interested in more details about obtaining such a license, do not hesitate to contact sales@mlstate.com, where we will try to answer all your questions (including pricing).

Just make it n=0 and I agree with you.

n=0 might just mean they are unable to notice breaches.

After all that happened lately to Sony they might learn from it and soon be the ones with the most secure network... Maybe not.

Then they would had released the thing finished, not in an early beta. Especially so if they still are thinking of adding major features to get users to move from Facebook.

I've used google+ and it doesn't feel like a beta at all. Everything just worked as expected, the UI is great. And its the only out of the box working group video chat for Linux I know of. Plus some extra gimmicks like watching YouTube "together." It is correct that there isn't much you can do on google+ but does it need more "major features"? I've got no idea what they plan to do but what features could it need? Maybe some gardening game? Think of twitter, featurewise its near to nothing and still people spend hours on this site.

Google Talk was supposed to be replace existing IM networks.. That didn't really work out. The software was extremely limited. I don't know how it is now, but why should I or anyone else care.

To me - and luckily some of my friends - Google Talk is the best IM for *mobiles* out there. And so at least I do care.

I'm more interested in a -1 rating. It sucks when my search results are filled with useless crap, copies of the same question without an answer, malware sites, etc. I'd love to rate those down.

I would like a -1 as well. The number of +1 is not as meaningful as the ratio of negative/positive votes. They should have just reused the known thumbs used on youtube. For complains about useless crap there are other channels though:

For maleware and spam pages there is google's spam reporting page and if you're using chrome there is a plugin by google that adds a "report as spam" shortcut to any search result. As the plugin is trivial I am positive something similar exists for other brothers.

Also there is the feedback link on every search page and the option to hide domains that bug you most (see here).

I skimmed TFA and it seems the "may" was introduced by /. editors and not the evil "mainstream media". There is a leak and it is radioactive water that it is leaking. No maybe. Actually they already planned how to fix it , tried to do so and failed at it.
