Submission + - First look at Insomniac Games Sunset Overdrive (playerattack.com)

UgLyPuNk writes: Sunset Overdrive debuted at E3 2013 in a blaze of eye-searing neon, with an all-too-short teaser trailer that left everybody wanting more, desperate to find out what that was all about. Now, nearly 12 months later, it's time for Insomniac Games to take the wraps off... and time for us to put our sunglasses on. The super-bright colours and cartoon graphics have not been toned down. Sunset City is the messy, sprawling love child of Times Square and Harajuku, flat surfaces covered with advertising, streets crawling with mutants.

Submission + - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel revealed (playerattack.com)

UgLyPuNk writes: Gearbox is sharing the Borderlands love, with the news that the studio is working with 2K Australia on the brand new, standalone Borderands: The Pre-Sequel. The new game is designed to fit neatly in the timeframe between Borderlands and Borderlands 2, and is set for release in the second half of 2014.

Submission + - Blizzard registers trademark for Overwatch (playerattack.com)

dotarray writes: Blizzard has let slip a teeny detail about just what it might be working on. A new trademark registration suggests that there's more going on at the studio than just the games we know about, and all the signs point to this being a very interesting development indeed. Could it finally be the shooter we've been hoping for?

Submission + - 5yr old exposes serious Xbox One security flaw (playerattack.com)

dotarray writes: Last December, Kristoffer Von Hassel worked out a way of logging into his father's Xbox Live account to play games. His parents, who had set up the built-in passworded parental controls to prevent exactly that, were curious.

Submission + - Valve makes a move on mobile platforms (playerattack.com)

dotarray writes: Even though the announcement only mentions one game — the original Portal — and not its sequel, it marks an exciting milestone: This is the first time Valve has moved into the mobile space — the Shield is powered by Android. This suggests the Source Engine is happy to run on ARM processors, meaning that other Source games could potentially also make the leap to other ARM devices like mobile phones and tablets.

Submission + - Facebook buys Oculus VR (playerattack.com) 2

dotarray writes: Facebook is moving into the virtual reality space with the news that the company has bought Oculus VR, creators of the Oculus Rift for US$2 billion.

Submission + - Report: Valve anti-cheat scans your DNS history (playerattack.com)

dotarray writes: Valve is looking at your browsing history right now, if a recent report is to be believed. It seems that the company's Valve Anti Cheat system (VAC) reportedly looks at all the domains you have visited, and if it finds that you've frequented hack sites, you'll be banned without question.

Submission + - Evolve Preview (New Left 4 Dead) (playerattack.com)

UgLyPuNk writes: Evolve is a game for people who are sick of cookie cutter classes. It's a game for people who like teamplay — but also for those lone wolves who want to singlehandedly take everyone down. It's a game for people who want a new first-person shooter — a fast-paced, active, agile experience that gives you a jetpack and throws you into an alien jungle to face off against a monster three times your size.

Submission + - Steam Music now accepting beta signups (playerattack.com) 3

dotarray writes: Valve continues in its quest for world domination with the announcement of Steam Music, soon to be a part of SteamOS, Big Picture and — eventually — the desktop Steam client. Promising a way for you to "Listen to your music collection while you play games", beta signups are open now.

Submission + - No Australian servers for Titanfall (playerattack.com)

dotarray writes: In disappointing news, it seems that Titanfall will not have dedicated servers in Australia. For a single-player game, this wouldn't be a problem, but Respawn has been busily telling us about the game's multiplayer focus.

Submission + - Source Engine 2 images potentially leaked (playerattack.com)

UgLyPuNk writes: A handful of images claiming to show the Source Engine 2 have surfaced on the internet. Sure, it's showing off an older game — Left 4 Dead 2 — but these snaps are far, far shinier than any four-year old game has a right to.
