I just hopped on to LMDE 201303 Cinnamon x64. I feel a little deceived because I had the impression this was a rolling release. It is not. It is apparently a "semi-rolling release". Major updates happen through "Update Packs" and the last one (UP6) is from 2012-12 to give you a sense of frequency. It tracks Debian Testing (not Debian Unstable). You can enable a Mint Repo called Romeo that will give you updates to software developed by the Mint team without waiting for a UP but that's it. So the only thing rolling about LMDE seems to be that you don't ever do a dist-upgrade. Since Ubuntu is based on Debian Unstable, and the update frequencies are comparable, LMDE is often behind in versions compared to Ubuntu! And I was here under the impression that I was going for more frequent updates compared to Ubuntu since this is a (semi-) rolling release!

If you think demonoid was good for rare foreign stuff just move over to https://karagarga.net/. Nothing else compares on the net. The catch is private tracker and need to keep ratio.

The "game" part is just packaging around the pointless grind and universal trade at the auction house. No one does anything for fun after the first time they get through the quests. The game mechanics and itemization are utterly boring and without character. There is not a single aspect of skill involved either. You spend most of your time staring at your skill cooldowns and life-mana pool because the terrain and monsters don't really matter. It's rote repetition and an utter waste of time. Worst purchase I ever made. I'd much MUCH rather have a Diablo 2 expansion with new content and a higher resolution support than this PoS.

Don't need no retinas, give me my 1440x900 or 1680x1050. Bonus points for IPS.

Doesn't have to be razer thin or feather light, just around 2kg. I don't need 8 gigs or 8 cores either. I'd rather have the integrated GPU too. I don't crave an SSD. Don't need no fingerprint reader, 1080p webcam or logo-laden speakers. Keep the internals cheap I just want to pay for a decent screen.

This is beautiful. I am not surprised in the least to see this audiophile-appleophile overlap.

jitsi does automatic encryption if you wish and if both parties support it. jitsi can use the highest quality voip audio codec, opus. you can choose either the highest quality video codec, h.264 or the freedom-minded one, VP8. you can have jitsi on all non-mobile platforms. it supports all protocols, including the crappy proprietary ones like msn and aol. it does voice, video, text, remote desktop and screen sharing. use a SIP and jabber account for the best experience. the only quasi-downside seems to be it comes with its own jre. i wish more people would get on board with jitsi right away.

I now use the https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/googlesharing/ add-on for FF. This is basically a proxy that is used only for your google searches. It stops Google from profiling you based on your IP address when you search by inserting a middle-man. Together with HTTPS-Everywhere and no logins to Google in the browser I think it's a pretty good setup. You have to trust the GoogleSharing people for not doing what Google does to begin with though :)

They ended up this way after being transported in a backpack, INSIDE a protective cover, in the company of a few other books (not heavy tomes). There are no visible signs of physical damage on the kindles, yet they are made unusable by mere carrying around. You might guess that some very moderate pressure was applied on the screen by the other books but what is the point of a PORTABLE reader if it can't withstand such little pressure? Amazon replaced the broken item the first time around, but now the warrantee period of 1 year is up. I now consider these devices to be home use only, which is a shame. I've stopped assuming I can carry it around. I don't know if other e-ink screens are also suffering from this frailty or its Amazon's design. YMMV.
A second concern with kindles are the lack of .epub support, which isn't so bad thanks to Calibre's conversion capabilities. But it's still a minor annoyance.
Despite these concerns, I am contemplating on getting a Paperwhite or a Nook Glow. I love the display tech. Just wish these things would be more durable.

If you're stuck on windows and are sick of Adobe and FoxIt (yes that's bloated now too), I recommend Sumatra. It's gotten really fast with launching and rendering now, and as a bonus will open your e-book formats which I find is a logical addition to a document viewer. As long as you don't actually need the Adobe magic forms, Sumatra is the better, sane solution to just view pdf's and similar.

Diablo 3 was DOA. It is a hamster-wheel farming game revolving around the auction house with no depth nor creativity.
Summary: It's fun but too easy going through normal, nightmare and hell if you gather a party. Then you hit the inferno act 2 brick wall, and your only hope for punching through that is either the RMAH or something like 100+ hrs into cheese-farming spots like dank cellar (gold) or the ancient path goblin (rares).
I found myself wishing someone else would "play" for a while because the game part peeled away and it was revealed to be a stupid repetitive virtual item farming-trading game. I bought the game mid-May, and haven't touched it past June and don't plan to either. Gonna keep it around for a couple more weeks and then give my login info to the first friend who shows interest when I go back to school for TA'ing in september.
